Warzone Player Count: How Many People Play Warzone?

The Warzone player count is a good marker of how well the game is performing, and as one of the biggest games and battle royale titles on the planet, players may be curious exactly how successful it is. With the release of the Warzone Fortune's Keep, the game may also see a rise in the playerbase. So how many people play Warzone?

Warzone Player Count: Total And Concurrent

Warzone’s initial release back in March of 2020 was impressive, to say the least. The Call of Duty battle royale amassed 30 million players in just ten days time and had over 50 million within a month of its release.

Last we heard from Activision, Warzone had been played by over 100 million players. The official Call of Duty Twitter account revealed this information on April 20, 2021.

At the time of writing (10:30am UK time, June 24, 2022), PlayerCounter.com reckons there are around 308,000 players currently on Warzone, which will no doubt increase each day towards the evening. Unfortunately, as things stand, there's no way to know just how reliable that figure is, so it’s impossible to determine a 100% accurate live Warzone player count. Consoles do not publicly reveal the concurrent player counts for their games and because Warzone is exclusively on Battle.net, we cannot view the PC player count either.

No one but Activision themselves knows exactly how many people are actively playing Warzone at any moment, but we do know that 100 million players and counting have dropped into Verdansk at one point or another.

Warzone Player Count: Twitch Viewership Numbers

While Warzone itself doesn’t provide us with all the data we need, the Twitch viewership numbers paint a pretty accurate picture of the Warzone player count and the game’s general trendiness. 

Warzone became one of the most-watched games on Twitch almost instantaneously following its release. Warzone averaged a pretty steady 100K+ concurrent viewers a month, eventually peaking at 140K average concurrent viewers in March of 2021.

Warzone’s absolute peak on Twitch saw it garner an insane 1,613,626 concurrent viewers. Warzone hit this milestone on April 20, 2021, right before the launch of Season 3 and the Destruction of Verdansk event that reverted the map into the Cold War era.

While not quite as popular as it once was, the Warzone Twitch viewership numbers are still going strong. The last seven days has seen an average viewership of 49,000 people from nearly 3000 channels streaming the game. This combines to a total of 8,267,183 hours watched during this period. 

It's one of the biggest Twitch games, routinely coming in the top 10, and as of writing this it also has 35,000 viewers across 1000+ channels.

Warzone Player Count: Is Warzone Dying?

Looking at the Warzone player count, one may ask, "is Warzone dying?" Coming back into the top ten on Twitch is likely caused by a surge in the interest thanks to the launch of Warzone Caldera and now the release of Fortune's Keep. It would be safe to assume that the numbers will rise even more as players jump into Warzone 2 at the end of the year. 

A huge factor in Warzone’s initial success was the sheer amount of star power there was playing and streaming the game. Content creator superstars like Turner “Tfue” Tenney, Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, Dennis "Cloakzy" Lepore, Nick "NICKMERCS" Kolcheff,  and Tim "TimTheTatman" John Betar have migrated from Fortnite to play Warzone. Now, the cycle continues and many of these names move back and forth between it and Apex Legends. 

Whether Warzone is a dead game or not really depends on how players take to the new map. With the RICOCHET anti-cheat supposedly taking the fight to hackers, Warzone could welcome back a lot of the players it lost with persistent cheating issues. Warzone is really at a massive turning point. One that could send it soaring, or plummeting down.
