Pokemon GO Sinnoh Stones are one of a handful of evolution items in the game that aren't from the main series. Pokemon that received a new evolution in Generation IV like Electabuzz and Togetic use this item to evolve in Pokemon GO and some of their evolutions are great contenders in battle.

You’ll want to grab a few Pokemon GO Sinnoh Stones wherever you can. Let's get into how to get and use Pokemon GO Sinnoh Stones.

Pokemon GO Sinnoh Stones: Eligible Pokemon

There are a whopping 18 Pokemon that use a Sinnoh Stone to evolve, but since some of them are meta-relevant, you’ll potentially need even more than that.

Here’s a full list of which Pokemon evolve with a Sinnoh Stone:

  • Lickitung ➞ Lickilicky
  • Rhydon ➞ Rhyperior
  • Tangela ➞ Tangrowth
  • Electabuzz ➞ Electivire
  • Magmar ➞ Magmortar
  • Porygon2 ➞ Porygon-Z
  • Togetic ➞ Togekiss
  • Aipom ➞ Ambipom
  • Yanma ➞ Yanmega
  • Murkrow ➞ Honchkrow
  • Misdreavus ➞ Mismagius
  • Gligar ➞ Gliscor
  • Sneasel ➞ Weavile
  • Piloswine ➞ Mamoswine
  • Kirlia ➞ Gallade
  • Roselia ➞ Roserade
  • Dusclops ➞ Dusknoir
  • Snorunt ➞ Froslass

Important note: These Pokemon still require candies to evolve, as well. The Sinnoh Stone does not replace the candy cost, unfortunately.

There are a few ways to obtain Sinnoh Stones, but none of them are guaranteed, making them a bit elusive at times. The first and most reliable way is to participate in the GO Battle League. By winning two battles in a set, you’ll earn a mystery reward. This reward will be one item out of a pool of options, one of which is a Sinnoh Stone. Many people who battle in the GBL frequently end up throwing out Sinnoh Stones because they accumulate so many.

Trainer battles of another kind can reward Sinnoh Stones too, namely the battles against Team Leaders and your friends. Winning battles against Candela, Blanche, or Spark will grant a reward once a day. Sinnoh Stones are one of the possible rewards here.

Battling against a friend can also reward you with a Sinnoh Stone. You can earn up to three rewards per day for PvP against a friend (you don’t need to win). Again, Sinnoh Stones are only one of the items you can earn, but it is possible.

By earning seven stamps for completing Field Research tasks, you’ll earn a Research Breakthrough reward. This reward can sometimes be a Sinnoh Stone, so be sure to complete a task every day.
The final way to earn Sinnoh Stones is not always available. Typically, when there is a Community Day featuring a Pokemon who requires a Sinnoh Stone to evolve (Ex. Roselia, Electabuzz), there is a Timed Research questline that rewards them.

Using a Sinnoh Stone is extremely easy. When you go to a Pokemon’s page, you can evolve it as normal. The only difference is that you’ll be prompted to use the Sinnoh Stone. Simply tap it and the Pokemon will evolve!

That's all you need to know about how to get and use Sinnoh Stones, and the Pokemon you can evolve with them. Not got all the Eevee evolutions yet? Check out our guide to the Pokemon GO Eeveelutions here.
