The Pokemon GO Eeveelutions are one of the most unique evolution series in Pokemon GO, because one Pokemon can turn into a whopping eight different ones after evolving. All Pokemon in Pokemon Go have specific Candy you can feed them to make them evolve. For Eevee, it's 25 Candy. Evolving Eevee just with this method (by feeding it 25 Eevee Candy) will randomly turn it into either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon. The Pokemon GO Eevee nicknames work by renaming the Eevee you want to a specific name, then evolving it. This will force one of the eight evolutions. Beware though, because this trick only works once, so once you've used it, you can't nickname an Eevee the same thing again. Here are all of the Eevee nicknames to acquire the specific evolutions:

Flareon: Pyro
Jolteon: Sparky
Vaporeon: Rainer
Umbreon: Tamao
Espeon: Sakura
Leafeon: Linnea
Glaceon: Rea
Sylveon: Kira

Many wonder why these specific names have to be given to an Eevee to guarantee a certain evolution. Well, it's all down to Pokemon lore.

When it comes to Sparky, Rainer, and Pyro, these are the names of the three elder Eevee brothers from the Pokemon anime, who show off their respective Eevelutions to Ash and the gang.

Sakura and Tamao also come from the Pokemon anime - when Ash meets the five Kimono sisters - Sakura with Espeon and Tamao with Umbreon.

As for Leafeon and Glaceon, their nicknames herald from trainers in the game Pokemon Sun and Moon. Linnea has Leafeon in her team and Rea has Glaceon.

Finally, Sylveon takes the name Kira from one of the Eevium Z trainers. 

Don't worry though; the Eevee nickname method isn't the only way of obtaining each of the Eeveelutions in Pokemon GO.

If you're after more than just one Sylveon and you've used the Kira nickname trick, evolving Eevee with another method will work. Eevee can be evolved into Sylveon by earning 70 Buddy hearts (Great Buddy level) and feeding it 25 Eevee Candy.

For Leafeon and Glaceon in Pokemon GO, specific lures need to be utilised. When within range of a Pokestop, use a Mossy Lure and evolve Eevee to acquire Leafeon, while a Glacial Lure will net you Glaceon.

Pokemon GO Eeveelutions: How To Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon or Espeon

For the Gen 2 pair, it's all about walking and time of day. Set Eevee as your buddy and walk 10km, then evolve it during the daytime for Espeon, or during the night time for Umbreon.

Unfortunately, there is no specific method to get Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon. These evolutions are random so you just need to ensure you have enough candy and evolve as many Eevees as needed till you get the one you're after. Since there are only three possibilities each time, it shouldn't take too long.
