For once, it's nice to write about Silent Hill and it not being about rumours that Kojima's next game is a secret Silent Hill or someone like Bloober Team is working on a remake. We actually have something to show you for once, with a glossy Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill remake.

First released in 1999 as a PlayStation exclusive, Silent Hill helped define the survival horror genre and grew into a sprawling franchise that spanned the next decade. Sadly, while Resident Evil has had a resurgence thanks to 2017's RE7Silent Hill remains a crumbling monolith to a bygone era since 2012's Silent Hill: Downpour limped into our lives.

What Does The Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill Remake Look Like?

We only recently covered a different Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill remake - which was showcased via a glossy cinematic trailer. Now, the team at Codeless Studio have shown off 10 minutes of gameplay from another new-gen remake. As shared by DSO Gaming, you can get a proper look at what's going on in that tormented town.

Recapturing the macabre magic of the OG, Codeless Studio gives us chills as we step back inside Midwich Elementary. We follow Harry Mason as he goes in search of his adopted daughter. Complete with flickering lighting and echoing footsteps, it's a nostalgic throwback to what made the game so terrifying back in the day.

Others were blown away by the Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill remake. "Hey guys you're doing a really great and fantastic job in this game. I caught myself a little emotional during the video," said one supporter, while another added, "This makes me sad. How hard was it for a studio to do this? I'm glad y'all are doing this." Perhaps the only criticism seems to be that there are calls for the pocket flashlight to be the only source of lighting light in the original.

Does The Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill Remake Have A Release Date?

There's no release date for the Unreal Engine 5 Silent Hill remake, but Codeless is asking for fan feedback to presumably refine things for release. Obviously, the more it gets talked about, the more likely it is to get pulled. Konami is unlikely to smile kindly on an unauthorised remake of Silent Hill, however, we did see Capcom support the Resident Evil 4 HD Project through Steam.

As for the actual Silent Hill, we still have no idea what's going on. There have been multiple reports about multiple games, but well over a year after they first broke, the hellfires have burned out. Bloober Team is supposedly working on a Silent Hill 2 remake, while those whispers that Konami is planning an all-star return are still doing the rounds. With it being 10 years since we last played a new Silent Hill, we're simply ravenous for more from this harrowing horror.
