Silent Hill is one of the most iconic games in history. The first instalment of the of psychological survival horror came out in 1999(!), and published by Konami. The story follows single parent, Harry Mason, who heads to the town for a vacation with his daughter, Cheryl, following the death of his wife Jodie four years previous. His daughter goes missing, and chaos ensues. If you know, you know.

Now, YouTube channel TeaserPlay has made all of our dreams come true by remaking the game in Unreal Engine 5. Hey, we might not have had a Silent Hill remake announcement at the latest State of Play, but this can tide us over until (hopefully) we finally get one at some point.

What Happens In The Silent Hill Remake Trailer?

As you can see from the concept trailer above, it's a far cry from the original. The detail is almost unbelievable, with Cheryl looking particularly creepy.

We see Harry's car crashed on the side of the road, with him getting out and exploring the town. The snow is falling, he chases his daughter through the streets. It's a lot crisper than the original, obviously, but the lack of the iconic fog that we've grown to know and love with the games makes it feels a little less authentic. But when the game looks this incredible, it's a small issue.

What Are Fans Saying About The Silent Hill Remake Trailer?

Opinions are split on the remake, with some pointing out the issue regarding the fog, with others saying how incredible it looks. One person wrote: "Omg this looks so real and you have tons of talent." While another pointed out that some lines in the trailer are from Silent Hill 2, and Laura shouldn't really be there.

Another commenter added: "I know that fog was originally made to kill two birds with one stone in the original silent hill by hiding draw distance and creating creepier atmosphere but I actually felt that the town in this remake was too clear! It needs more fog, it looked more like chernobyl than Silent Hill. Still an awesome remake, I am just a critical person I would like to play a Silent Hill remake even if I still think the originals are scary despite dated graphics!".

So it looks like fans aren't ever going to be completely happy with a remake that's too advanced, hopefully Komani is taking notes.
