It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since Demond Miles first stepped into the Animus and we got to meet Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. These days, Assassin's Creed is one of best-known franchises out there, and while it took Prince of Persia's death, we're not mad about it.

Most of the news these days is focused on the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage and rumoured return of Valhalla's Basim, but alongside other projects like the live-service Infinity and VR Nexus, let's remember there are still rumours we'll be getting a full-blown remake of the OG game.

What Is The Assassin's Creed Remake?

Over on YouTube, TeaserPlay has shown off a Unreal Engine 5 version of Assassin's Creed. In the footage, we see Altaïr travelling the Holy Land in his signature outfit. We also see him under the tutelage of Al Mualim - who has been given a new-gen makeover.

The video's description explains how it's been a dream for Ubisoft to tackle a remake of the lauded stealth title. It's unlikely Ubisoft would use Unreal Engine 5, but TeaserPlay says it used features like Lumen, Nanite, Ray Tracing, and Metahuman to get the finished product. We've previously seen TeaserPlay deliver Unreal Engine 5 concepts for everything from the OG God of War to GTA: Vice City

Other gamers were blown away by the concept. One cheered, "This is just glorious, I really hope they remake AC1 but probably never will. The AC franchise is pure gold but unfortunately it fell into the wrong hands of Ubisoft." Another added, "If only Ubisoft didn't f**k up the AC franchise. The future storyline etc ugh. I just wish it was the historical settings. Anyhow this is amazing," while a third said, "I thought this was a trailer for the new Assassin's Creed."

Is Ubisoft Working On An Assassin's Creed Remake?

Although Assassin's Creed has aged pretty well by the standards of most games that came out in 2007, that hasn't stopped fans crying out for a truly new-gen remake. We've seen Assassin's Creed III and Rogue get the remaster treatment, but others have been tossed to the wind. Up there with Black Flag, who isn't asking for a remake of the one that started it all?

Interestingly, we've heard whispers that your long-mooted Assassin's Creed remake could be on the way. Only recently, eagle-eyed fans spotted that an Ubisoft livestream seemingly showed off revamped footage that hinted at a remake. If you still aren't convinced, noted leaker j0nathan claims Mirage will reuse assets from AC1, which is Ubisoft's way of releasing a full remake as part of a season pass. Are you ready to see Altaïr in a whole new light?
