The Assassin’s Creed Infinity release date is set to introduce gamers to an experience unlike anything the franchise has ever produced before. Much is still up in the air about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title, as specific details about the game codenamed Infinity are still somewhat sparse. Even so, here’s what we do currently know about Assassin’s Creed Infinity when it comes to a release date, trailers, gameplay, and more.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity Release Date

Ubisoft has not even revealed the intended release year for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, let alone its release date. Nevertheless, we still have some information that gives us an idea of when we can expect Assassin’s Creed Infinity to launch.

The Bloomberg report from July 2021 that first confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Infinity claimed that the game was “still years away from release.” That same day, journalist Jason Schreier clarified that the release of the game was “at least three years away.”

As a result, fans likely shouldn’t expect an Assassin’s Creed Infinity release date until at least the summer of 2024. However, that does not mean the Assassin’s Creed series will lay dormant until then. A stealth-based title codenamed Assassin’s Creed Rift is reportedly slated to launch sometime in 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity Trailers

So far, Ubisoft has not released any trailers for Assassin’s Creed Infinity. In fact, the company has only directly acknowledged the game’s existence through a brief blog post released shortly after Schreier’s report for Bloomberg.

In that blog post, Ubisoft managing directors Nathalie Bouchard and Christophe Derennes acknowledged that Assassin’s Creed Infinity was still early in the development stage, explaining why there is not yet enough gameplay footage for Ubisoft to create a trailer.

The blog post also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will mark a shift in the development process for the Assassin’s Creed series, as Ubisoft’s Montreal and Quebec offices will work together to develop Assassin’s Creed Infinity. Previously, the two offices would work on alternating games.

For example, Ubisoft Montreal developed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, while Ubisoft Quebec developed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. However, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a collaborative project, suggesting how big of an undertaking it is set to be compared to previous entries in the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

“Rather than continuing to pass the baton from game to game, we profoundly believe this is an opportunity for one of Ubisoft’s most beloved franchises to evolve in a more integrated and collaborative manner that’s less centered on studios and more focused on talent and leadership, no matter where they are within Ubisoft,” Bouchard and Derennes wrote in their blog post.

Assassin's Creed Infinity Setting

Not much is yet known about where Assassin's Creed Infinity will be set. However, if the live service aspect of the game is to be believed, it's likely that we'll see the game set across multiple time periods.

For years, fans of Assassin's Creed have yearned to visit a feudal Japan setting. While we've explored some of what that may look like in Assassin's Creed Chronicles, no mainline entry to the franchise has ever explored that era. However, a new rumour from Jeff Grubb claims that could be about to change with Assassin's Creed Infinity.

Speaking on his podcast 'Jeff Grubb's Game Mess', Grubb explains that he's not sure if it will be a part of Assassin's Creed Infinity. However, it will apparently be much more like the RPG focused Assassin's Creed games, like Odyssey and Origins. Another Assassin's Creed game set in Baghdad is reportedly releasing soon, though this is also unconfirmed to be part of Assassin's Creed Infinity

Assassin’s Creed Infinity Gameplay

Since there is currently no public gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, it is unclear how its gameplay will differ from previous games in the series. Even so, fans can likely expect many returning elements from past entries in the action role-playing series, from stealth-focused combat to mission-driven narrative.

In addition, we have information about the unique approach the developers are taking with Assassin’s Creed Infinity and how these changes will make it stand out compared to previous Assassin’s Creed titles.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be a live service game, meaning that new content will constantly be added to it in the vein of long-standing and popular video games like Fortnite and Grand Theft Auto V. As a result, Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be less like a singular game and more like an online platform that will continually add new experiences over time.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity will reportedly take place in multiple unique settings that will still be connected somehow, even if the individual gameplay experiences with Assassin’s Creed Infinity differ. When the Assassin’s Creed Infinity release date eventually rolls around, fans should expect months or potentially even years of content to follow, resulting in a fresh gameplay experience with each new update.

Assassin’s Creed Infinity Platforms

We do not currently have any information about what platforms Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be playable on. The previous game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, launched on PC, Google Stadia, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles. As a result, there is a decent chance Infinity will release on similar platforms.

That said, the release date for Assassin’s Creed Infinity is still a fairly long time away. So, while PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X still seem like they will be likely launch platforms for the game, it is less likely that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will be playable on any older consoles.

One thing we do know is that, whenever the Assassin’s Creed Infinity release date comes, fans will have to pay for the game. While Ubisoft did briefly experiment with an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey free-to-play model, it appears that model will not be the standard for the series going forward.
