Assassin's Creed has spanned time periods, continents, and quality across its franchise progression - much as one could suspect of it. The series has undergone a lot of change over the course of its life, transforming from a stealth-based rooftop runner to an all-out brute-force RPG, with 2020's Valhalla proving its final transition as a savage Viking adventure.

Everyone has their favourite Assassin's Creed games from the history of Ubisoft's juggernaut. As we wait for news on what comes next, the debate over the best Assassin's Creed game has been taken to the doorstep of fans of Microsoft Excel who have a lot of time on their hands.

What Is The Worst Assassin's Creed Game? Apparently!

One Assassin's Creed fan has analysed the franchise with a metric that we were fools not to use in the first place. They've used a pretty solid formula to determine which games in the series are the most assassin-y and creed-y.

JamesTiddlySquid is the host of the Let's Talk Assassin's Creed podcast, and has taken to Twitter with an Excel spreadsheet that breaks down just how accurate to its namesake every game in the series is. Frankly, many of them are an embarrassing reflection of how little AC grasps the point of its existence.

The list contains some surprises, as it indicates that Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Valhalla are among the absolute worst of the series when it comes to actually following through on how Assassin-y and Creed-y they are.

Assassin's Creed Unity Is Technically Among The Series' Best

One of the deep flaws of the list is that it claims Assassin's Creed Unity is among the most Assassin's Creed of the Assassin's Creed games, despite it being… y'know… horrible.

Unity, Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 3, and Liberation are the only games on the list that are certifiably Assassin-y and Creed-y, which is a shock given that Unity is regarded as one of the series' worst. It's an interesting metric to judge the games by, even if it whiffs the quality of the games. Here's hoping that the future can adhere to this spreadsheet, otherwise Assassin's Creed runs the risk of forgetting its roots.
