It seems like a lifetime we've been waiting for more news about the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel.

Practically earning the moniker as one of the best games ever made straight out of the gate, the game made waves across the internet and uprooted the aims of RPGs everywhere, with every other game developer making attempt to capitalise on its success. (we're looking at you, Sonic Frontiers. You think you're slick, don't you?)

It's been a long wait, and as today's Nintendo Direct had its reveal, fans were wondering if today could be the day.

Guess what? Today's the day.

Breath Of The Wild's Sequel Finally Has A Title

After months of speculation of rumours, we finally have a title and release date for the long-awaited sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The game is titled The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and its reveal came along with some fresh gameplay that sees Link soaring through the air and leaping from hovering chunks of land that have been yanked from the landscape of Hyrule.

The news came as part of today's Nintendo Direct conference, which revealed the game along with the likes of Pikmin 4 and Octopath Traveller II.

The gameplay looks just as slick and fun as the first game, and it's a big and bold step for the franchise to take. Plus, as fans are so excited for the title, there's a lot of pressure on the game to absolutely smash it. And it truly looks like it could.

But, it's not just the title that was revealed - we also have a release date. And it isn't too far over the horizon.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Has A Release Date

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has its release date to boot, and though it's still coming next year, it's surprisingly not gunning to take Nintendo's holiday title slot.

The game has also been revealed to be launching on 12 May 2023, so we've only got... eight months to wait. There's only so long we can twiddle our thumbs for, but we'll do our best to persist.

It barely needs mentioning, but this news is absolutely huge - and has finally solidified what's next for the Zelda series. The future of The Legend of Zelda is finally here - and not a moment too soon.
