Can you hear that? It's the melodic tones of an ocarina - blowing in across Hyrule Field. While it's only a matter of time until Nintendo moves forward with a Zelda movie, one Stranger Things star has an idea for how it should go.

Link first wielded the Master Sword in 1986, and with a 20th game on the way in 2023 with Tears of the Kingdom, there's a lot of lore to pull from. Being one of Nintendo's most successful IPs, gamers are rightly asking, "Where is our Zelda movie?"

What's Gaten Matarazzo's Zelda Movie Pitch?

By now, we're sure you've heard a million pitches for a Zelda movie. Fun fact, Robin Williams was also a huge Zelda fan and even named his daughter after the titular princess. In fact, Robin and Zelda starred in an ad promoting the series for the 3DS.

As for Matarazzo, he gave his mythical Zelda movie pitch to Variety - saying that it needs to take the silent movie approach. "I'm a huge 'Legend of Zelda' fan and I've always wanted to see a very visually and musically driven animated film," said Matarazzo.

"It might be challenging when most of the characters never speak, but to explore a vocally silent world where a story can be told visually and through score would be really cool." Apart from the odd noise or the annoyance of Navi saying "listen," the realm of Hyrule is known as a place of few words.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is giving Chris Pratt's Mario a voice, which is already proving divisive. We'll admit that two hours of him just saying "woo-hoo" or "waaaaaaah" might grow pretty tiresome, pretty quick. Then again, the Zelda games are remembered for their music even more than the Mario franchise.

Will There Be A Zelda Movie?

It's easy to forget that Zelda hasn't just been confined to the various Nintendo consoles. As well as a plethora of manga and comics, there was also a short-lived animated series in 1989.

If that wasn't enough, there was the bombshell that Netflix had been working on a live-action series around 2015 - which was canned because its announcement was leaked early. It makes it even more tantalising that we were recently fooled by a series of faux posters with the likes of Tom Holand, Idris Elba, and Emma Watson.

We can easily see Nintendo taking a similar route to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but to be honest, we'd love to see a proper live-action outing with some Hollywood megastars. With everything from Fallout to God of War, The Last of Us to the (many) Resident Evil adaptations giving love to video games, we think The Legend of Zelda is long overdue some lovin'.
