If you can hear the raspy breathing of Darth Vader rumbling in the distance, that's because Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is just around the corner. We're expecting a bigger and better sequel to 2019's Fallen Order, and by the sounds of it, we're getting one.

With Jedi: Survivor being pushed from its March 17 release to April 28 (we think it's a shame it's not May 4), EA is rolling out its marketing machine like a lumbering AT-AT. Now, we know a fan-favourite feature will make travelling the cosmos a little easier.

Does Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Have Fast Travel?

While we're not complaining about the impressive size of Fallen Order, its largely linear path meant you didn't need to retrace your steps a lot. You could jump between planets in the Stinger Mantis, but still, plucky Padawan asked for a more traditional fast travel to help platinum the game.

In the latest issue of Play Magazine (via GamesRadar), Game Director Stig Asmussen confirmed there will be a fast travel system AND rideable creatures in Jedi: Survivor: "We will feature both fast travel and rideable creatures to help players quickly get from point A to B, and back to A."

He continued, "The fast travel is point to point, and the rideable creatures offer a way to quickly negotiate between points and explore what is in between." Since the galaxy far, far away, has given everything from Tauntauns to Rancors, we can't wait to see what Cal Kestis will be mounting.

Speaking to Game Informer in December, Asmussen confirmed tameable mounts and added, "It's much of a wider Metroidvania approach. Cal can cross huge gaps by chaining several types of skills together. But it's also about how we approach these mounts and how they're used to negotiate and dominate the world."

What Else Is New In Jedi: Survivor?

As well as this grizzled and more mature version of Cal, Jedi: Survivor promises a wealth of new features. Alongside his lightsaber, Cal will get to wield a blaster for a different kind of gameplay.

Taking place five years after Cal and co. escaped Darth Vader, the rag-tag team of rogues is still on the run from the Inquisitors. We see a sinister-looking Pau'an, who many think could be the Grand Inquisitor.

Asmussen has already hyped the new addition of Bode Akuna - a mercenary and AI companion who Cal can call out to in combat. Other new mechanics include a grappling hook to reach distant areas.

With these dark Empire Strikes Back vibes, we're hoping this could be the middle chapter of a trilogy for Cal. Taking place alongside the events of Obi-Wan Kenobi, we're hoping Jedi: Survivor can make good on those promises of some major cameos
