As we all know, critical success and personal success are not the same thing.

Of course, reviews are immeasurably useful when determining the quality of many games before players can get their hands on them (of course we'd say that, to be fair), but that doesn't mean much for the games that we know are a bit pants, but we love them anyway.

We've all got them, and some games that are objectively poor are simply too much fun to put down even in spite of their flaws. Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue, I'm looking at you, you terrible delight.

And it looks like fans are taking the opportunity to shine a light on the stinkers they love.

Reddit Comes Together To Discuss The Great Terrible Games

In a wholesome act of community that Reddit has typically distanced itself from, gamers have come together to celebrate their favourite bad games.

"What was a poorly reviewed game that you actually love?" asks user twinfrog, and gamers have wasted no time getting involved in the comments.

"Lucasarts made a Jango Fett game on the PS2 that I remember got s**t on by the critics," says one commenter, reminiscing about Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. "I personally loved it, I always thought it had great level design."

"Dude. I loved that game," says another. "I would play it as I blasted System of a Down in the background. To this day, whenever I hear Nüguns I'm thrown into Star Wars: Bounty Hunter nostalgia."

Players Defend EA's Star Wars Battlefront 2

Even though the game was ripped to shreds by players and critics alike for its preying microtransaction systems, one player has come forward in the thread to defend EA's second remake of Star Wars Battlefront.

"The industry reached a breaking point with pay-to-win and the community absolutely snapped on that game," says user neoshadowdgm. "But EA corrected the course. Once they backpedalled on that aspect, it was one of the best games I’ve ever played. There was so much free content released throughout its lifespan. It really feels like you’re living the Star Wars. Dice crafted it with so much love for the films. I hope those games keep coming out."

It's a controversial take, but that's exactly what the thread is for, in all fairness. It's nice that players still love games in spite of their flaws, as no game is truly perfect. Except Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue. That's the hill I'm willing to die on.
