Halo Infinite has made quite the stir since its announcement. The very first trailer didn’t work quite as well as fans had hoped it would at getting them excited, but as it seems, it was merely the calm before the storm. Because every reveal that has come afterwards has been nothing short of brilliant.

A free-to-play multiplayer mode, a rumoured battle royale in the works, and the game’s appearance on Xbox Game Pass on day one has kept fans more than engaged, and now there’s hope that Infinite could actually be one of the series’ absolute best. And to think that this game would not only come to next-gen consoles, but also those on Xbox One!

Well, uh… kind of. Because apparently, the older hardware has been struggling with the game.

The Xbox One Struggles with Halo Infinite

The beta of Halo Infinite seemed to go without many hitches, but there’s been a few problems with the Xbox One version of the game. While the Xbox Series X|S version of the game is aiming for at least 4K at 60FPS and 1440p at 120 FPS, there have been reports that suggest that the Xbox One version of the game dips to as low as 540p.

This is a whopping smack in visual fidelity, and while it’s been assured that gameplay is still better than the first impression we got of the game, it’s still something you’d hope was at least higher than 540p, especially for a brand-new title in 2021.

Plus, as can be expected, the visual quality overall has dipped, subbing out high-quality textures that next-gen consoles can handle without any problems in favour of some that probably feel more at home on the weaker hardware, and remaining at 30fps.

Is Halo Infinite Worse On Xbox One?

The sad fact is, it’s pretty accurate that Halo Infinite will be “worse” on the weaker hardware. We knew that graphics would be getting an upgrade for the next generation of consoles, but it’s clear they’ve had all the attention.

Anyone left behind has been left with the dregs, and though 343 industries still have months to iron this out, it’s frustrating that the Xbox One version of the title that’s supposed to shake up the series is mulling around such low numbers as 540p.

Hopefully, this will get a fix before launch - otherwise, 343 will have to answer to some very unhappy Xbox One users.
