Pick up your Bridge Baby because the world of video games has just delivered a crossover for the ages with an official Death Stranding x Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration. Don't worry, it's much more than just a fan-made project that creates a Sam Porter Bridges skin to explore Night City. Both Death Stranding and Cyberpunk 2077 were long-awaited AAA titles that have had their fair share of critiques. Now, just over a year after Death Stranding's original release, it's getting a tonne of new content courtesy of Cyberpunk's tech dystopia.

While Death Stranding takes place in an apocalyptic version of the United States in an indistinguishable year, Cyberpunk 2077 very much takes place in the year 2077 (duh). The bright neons of Night City might seem a million miles away from the depressing backdrop of MULES and time fall rain, however, Kojima Productions and CD Projekt Red have come together in a big way with a free Death Stranding DLC

Death Stranding x Cyberpunk 2077 DLC: What is it?

We've already seen the BB and Hideo Kojima himself appear in the background of Cyberpunk 2077, but keen not to be outdone, a whole host of Cyberpunk-themed vehicles and missions has started appearing in Death Stranding. As well as giving Sam Porter Bridges those unique Cyberpunk lines on his face, the intrepid deliveryman also has the ability to hack thanks to the DLC. Let's be honest though, the thing we're really here for is the addition of Johnny Silverhand's cyberbike. Unfortunately, the smooth-talking likeness of Keanu Reeves isn't coming to Death Stranding, but still.

According to IGN, the crossover is live now for Death Stranding on PC, so get it in the download queue ASAP. Anyone running Death Stranding version 1.05 can access new equipment that will be both cosmetic and game-changing, as well as new missions featuring "Cyberpunk characters and lore". The six new missions not only add the likes of the Silverhand-inspired robotic arm - but the impressive Hacking Function. This allows Sam to target enemy tech to prevent MULE sensor poles from activation, stun Odradeks, and even hack MULE tracks.

Death Stranding x Cyberpunk 2077 DLC: How did it start?

The idea of a Death Stranding x Cyberpunk 2077 DLC was pretty well signposted earlier this year. In July, CD Projekt Red Tweeted a shot of Kojima sitting on a cybercycle. Jump forward to now and the very same cycle is now part of Death Stranding, while we're sure you've already found Kojima in Cyberpunk 2077 by now. For now, the DLC is only available on Death Stranding for PC.g

Kojima Productions recently celebrated its five-year anniversary with a behind-the-scenes look at Death Stranding. Unfortunately, there's been no official word on whether we'll be getting a PlayStation 5 upgrade to take it through to next-gen. Then again, Death Stranding still looks pretty stunning on PS4. If only Cyberpunk 2077 could say the same. With players making their way through the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, here's hoping it's better received that that awful Conan O'Brien cameo we had in Death Stranding.
