While you might think the world of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is some fictional future that's been pulled from the minds of video game writers, you might be wrong. Despite the Blade Runner-inspired world of Night City seeming like it could never happen in the next 56 years, it turns out we're closer to this reality than you first thought. Even though we're not expecting a 112-year-old Keanu Reeves will be running around as Johnny Silverhand in real-life, some of Cyberpunk 2077's ideas are already coming to life in the world 2021.

One of Cyberpunk 2077's biggest supporters has been Elon Musk, with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO even appearing in-game for a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo at the start of the Corpo lifepath. It's no secret that Musk has been heavily invested in watching how the sci-fi shooter has developed, and now, he's shown his love of Cyberpunk 2077 by confirming it's playable on his latest model of Tesla.

How does Cyberpunk 2077 play on the new Tesla?

Musk is on the marketing assault with his new Tesla Model S, which is the first remodel since the car launched in 2012. Among the Tesla Model S' many features is an interactive interior screen that also doubles up as a games console. When he unveiled the Tesla Model S on Twitter, Musk confirmed the screen can play Cyberpunk 2077. The 17-inch portrait display boasts 2200x1300 resolution and has a supplementary display beneath the centre console for passengers. If you're already sold, Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to the Tesla Arcade next month - giving devs a little longer to get rid of a few more gremlins.

Musk says the Tesla Arcade will rival modern consoles thanks to souped-up 10 teraflops of processing power and connectivity for wireless controllers. It remains to be seen which version of Cyberpunk 2077 is loaded into the Tesla Model S. Even though the PC version was largely praised apart from the odd glitch, Cyberpunk 2077 has been widely panned on console ahead of a promised next-gen rework some time this year. Even Musk has got in on the drama and posted a series of memes to his Twitter when he came across a buggy Cyberpunk release.

What else comes with the Tesla Arcade?

The Tesla Arcade isn't just a chance for Musk to show off his love of Cyberpunk 2077. He likely picked the game to show off the Tesla Arcade because of its recent release and the fact he pops up in the title. When you've finished V's story and explored all there is to explore in Night City, you can also try out the likes of Fallout ShelterCuphead, and return to CD Projekt Red's world with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in your new Tesla Model S.

If you aren't suitably impressed, CNET claims the Tesla Arcade could compete with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X's 10.28 teraflops and 12 teraflops of power. You'll only be able to play your games when in park mode, however, it's unclear whether you'll be able to play on the move when self-driving technology is enabled. It all sounds very I, Robot to us. The Tesla Model S doesn't exactly have the best track record with self-driving safety, but then again, we've come on a long way since the Harry Potter incident.

The announcement of the Tesla Arcade has definitely caused a buzz, but that didn't stop Musk becoming the butt of the joke. Even The Game Awards' Geoff Keighley poked fun at the game as he joked, "The game crashes more than the car". Of course, if Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't tickle your fancy, you could always play one of the other games packed into the Tesla Arcade.
