It’s been over a year since the infamous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which was downright unplayable on last-gen consoles. Despite its tumultuous release, the title has carried on selling like hotcakes. For those who are still yet to experience the neon-splashed world of Cyberpunk, you can get the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version for less than $10 with a free next-gen upgrade.

Where can you purchase Cyberpunk 2077 on sale?

American retailer Target is selling the last-gen version of CD Projekt Red’s dystopian RPG at $9.99 - a huge price cut, as usually, it’s $39.99 and $26.99 on the PS4 and Xbox One respectively. The newer version of the title for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is still yet to be released, but owners of the previous edition will receive an upgrade at no extra cost.

When will the current-gen version be released?

So far, the souped-up Cyberpunk 2077 has been scheduled for release later this year. If we’ve learned anything from the development of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s not to trust CD Projekt Red’s words on release dates. At a shareholder meeting last month, the SVP of business development, Michał Nowakowski, stated, "The target is to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077 late this year."

Players were hopeful that Cyberpunk 2077 could find a new lease of life. However, only a month later, Nowakowski followed it up with: "At the same time, keeping in mind the lesson we have learned during the past year and taking into account that this project still remains in development, we can’t say with full certainty that the production schedule will not change."

How is Cyberpunk Now?

With Nowakowski’s comments in mind, it’s unlikely the free upgrade will be coming later this year. For those wanting their Cyberpunk fix though, the last-gen and PC versions have received a lot of work over the past year to make them consistently playable - a far cry from the original version that at one point was pulled from the PlayStation Store.

The post-launch support was also radically changed after the initial release. The first Cyberpunk 2077 DLC finally came out recently, though it’s nothing substantial and just features a few cosmetic items. In August, there was also the game’s biggest patch that launched full of new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements. Will a $10 price tag tempt you to indulge in Night City?
