You may want to know The Witcher 3 best armour sets, as during your journey as Geralt you will find dozens of different armour sets that range in their bonuses and overall effectiveness at keeping you alive. The Witcher 3 is a massive game, and with that comes a tonne of loot to find, from swords, to armour sets, and even Gwent cards for when you want to some light competition. So, if you're looking for a breakdown of the best armour sets in The Witcher 3, we've got you covered.

The Witcher 3 Best Armour Sets

Feline School Gear

Many players consider the Feline School gear to be the very best of the armour on offer in The Witcher 3, and they are all correct. It's a set of light armour, so you will have to deal with the downside of less damage resistance, but its bonuses more than make up for it. The Feline gear has increased resistance to elemental attacks, making it good in a fight with monsters, and each armour piece adds extra attack power to your hits, allowing you to deal massive damage. If you go all in with the Feline swords too, you'll get a nice boost to critical hit chance and a bleed status.

Wolf School Gear

The Wolf School gear is up there as the most versatile set of armour in the game, owing to its jack-of-all-trades qualities. It's a set of medium armour, meaning it provides a nice defence bonus, but the real quality comes from its passive buffs. When the whole set is equipped, you'll get a nice boost in attack power, adrenaline point gain, and sign intensity, making it a good piece of gear to use while you're finding your speciality.

Manticore School Gear

The Manticore School gear is only available in The Witcher 3 Blood and Wine expansion, making it an end-game piece of gear, but for alchemy builds it's unparalleled in its effectiveness. It's also worth noting it only comes in the Grandmaster form, so you will need to be level 40 at least. The boost it gives to your maximum toxicity, alchemy charges, and critical hits for bombs are all powerful, and allow you to really inhabit the Witcher lifestyle of potions and monster hunting.

Bear School Gear

If you don't like dancing around enemies with graceful pirouettes and flawless parries, then the Bear School gear will make you very happy. It's perfect for players that like to tank as it falls under the heavy armour distinction, providing excellent armour and resistance bonuses. The boost to Quen and adrenaline point gain is also massive for dealing out hard hits in battle. Overall, it's a fantastic set of armour for tanks that like to hit back hard.

Griffin School Gear

The Griffin School gear is very powerful for a specific portion of the game, and is great for players still in the Velen and Novigrad portion of their adventure. It's a strong piece of medium armour that gives you good resistance bonuses while you're still relatively weak, and the sign intensity buffs will ensure you're using all your tools effectively. It's not the type of gear you'll wear in the end-game, but it serves its purpose for a good portion of The Witcher 3.

Lastly, we have the Viper School gear. You can very easily get your hands on the weapons from this set during the White Orchard prologue section, but the armour comes much later and requires you to own The Witcher 3 Hearts of Stone expansion. It has powerful poison resistance bonuses, along with elemental and monster resistance, but this is only super powerful in specific contexts, making this armour a niche pick for most.

That's all for our breakdown of The Witcher 3 best armour sets, and now you know which gear sets rise above the rest.

We also cover which is the best The Witcher 3 movement response setting, along with how to change it.
