How To Make Sims Playful In The Sims 4
Making sims playful in The Sims 4 is just one of the many joyful ways to get your sims to perform special interactions with one another. In The Sims 4, you may need your sim to be playful to achieve a work performance goal, to help if they're writing jokes or perhaps to achieve the emotional painting challenge for the painting aspiration. The Sims 4: Ways To Get Playful Moodlets
Telling Jokes

Perhaps the easiest way to achieve a playful moodlet for your sims is to tell jokes. By queueing up jokes and telling a few at a time to nearby sims, you may get a playful moodlet. Watching other sims tell jokes will also encourage the moodlet.
Once playful, more playful interactions will unlock, highlighted in purple. You can choose these when talking with other sims to continue to boost your playful moodlets.

Assigning either the Childish or Goofball trait to your sim will increase the odds of them entering a random playful mood. This chance increases further if they have the Childish trait and play with child toys.
Special Recipes

The 'Silly Gummy Bear Pancakes' are a special recipe that is only available to cook when your sim is in a playful mood. However, if your sim happens to be playful it’s a good idea to cook these and guarantee yourself the ability to bring that mood back later. Once eaten, the gummy bears induce the playful moodlet for three hours. The recipe requires cooking level three to use.

Other Playful Interactions

The following are all options you can perform to encourage your sim into a playful mood:
- Choose the 'Watch funny videos on Sim.tv.' action when on a PC. (+1 boost for four hours)
- Choose the 'Pull Silly Face' interaction when clicking on a mirror. (+1 boost for two hours)
- Watch a Comedy channel on TV (+1 boost for three hours)
- Take a bubble bath. (+2 boost for four hours)
- Eat Razzleberries (from Jungle Adventure)
- Empathize with flirty sims (if you are playing as an alien)
- Drink Sparkling Apple Juice
- Use the Foamy Slide (if you have the Backyard Stuff pack).
- Play on a jungle gym or watch kids' shows (if you're playing as a child sim)
- If a voodoo doll is used on your sim and 'frolic' interaction is chosen
- Drink the essence of playfulness from a Cowplant
- Drink Café Coffee (requires Get Together pack)
- Being near a playful ghost
Playful Paintings

This is a more permanent version of the gummy bear recipe. Have your sim create an 'emotional painting' when in a playful mood. Once the painting is finished your sim can choose to view it at any time and the interaction will put them in a playful mood.
This is a great idea to make if you have a career that relies on you being in a playful mood as can view the picture at any time. You only must be in the playful mood upon initial creation, you don’t have to remain in the mood throughout painting the piece for it to work.

Humour and Hijinks Festival

The Humour and Hijinks festival is an addition that came with The Sims 4: City Living. Join the festival and revive the option to either be part of the Jokesters who use comedy or the Pranksters who use mischief interactions.
If you drink the yellow 'light' tea you can become a Jokester and receive a plus two boost to playfulness for six hours.
You can also purchase items from the pop-up stall, including a voodoo doll and bubbles. If the Jokesters win, you will receive 500 simoleons and a mic to practise comedy routines on.
Blowing bubbles can produce the playful moodlet, however, they may also produce the focused, inspired, or happy moodlet, the chances for any are randomised.
The Sims 4: Death By Hysteria

Having a sim laugh themselves to death is one of the hardest deaths to achieve in The Sims 4. As such, it has become a challenge to achieve emotion-based deaths in the community. For this to work, you must build up as many playful moodlets as possible and watch as your sim goes from playful to very playful to hysterical.
Once your sim is in the hysterical mood state, keep making them tell jokes, take bubble baths, and interact with playful décor. It also helps if they have a roommate who continuously uses the voodoo doll 'Frolic' interaction with them.
Once the death triggers, your sim will start uncontrollably laughing until they can't catch their breath anymore and Grim comes for them.
