Since their introduction in December 2022, the evolution line of Scatterbug, Spewda, and Vivillon have introduced one of the strangest and most unique collect-a-thons in Pokemon GO. To get all 18 varieties of Vivillon to complete the Vivollon Collector medal, you'll need to eventually fully evolve as many Scatterbugs with 125 Scatterbug Candy for each.

How To Do The Scatterbug Glitch Pokemon GO

The Scatterbug glitch in Pokemon GO inflates the amount of Scatterbug Candy earned via the buddy system. Instead of 1 x Scatterbug Candy that you'd get for walking 1KM with your buddy Scatterbug, you'll get many times more.

Here are the exact steps you'll need to execute to successfully perform the Scatterbug glitch in Pokemon GO:

1. Select a Scatterbug as your buddy.
2. Press the berry or "PLAY!" button to enter AR mode.
3. Feed your buddy Scatterbug a Poffin.
4. After your buddy Scatterbug appears on your map, swap buddies to a different Pokemon.
5. Immediately after, reassign the same Scatterbug as your buddy.
6. Walk at least 1KM with your buddy Scatterbug. This should take 5-10 minutes depending on how quickly the game records your distance.
7. After completing the 1KM, check on your buddy Scatterbug and you should notice a large number of Scatterbug Candy you've just earned.

Investigated personally for this Scatterbug glitch Pokemon GO guide, the glitch has been confirmed as working and is still active.

Tested on a Scatterbug caught at the time of writing, starting with 6 x Scatterbug Candy upon capture, walking the 1KM with the buddy Scatterbug after performing the above steps later met us with 22 x Scatterbug Candy. That's an increase of 16 x Scatterbug Candy after walking 1KM instead of the single Candy we would have gotten through normal methods.

Differing reports from other players seem to show that the amount of bonus Scatterbug Candy you get for the glitch is totally random - meaning you may get a smaller or larger amount if successful. Additionally, reports also say your walking speed needs to be just over 6mph. However, as long as you walk at a brisk pace, the glitch should still work regardless.

It is uncertain if or when Niantic will patch the glitch. So, be sure to make the most of it as soon as you can.
