Team Rocket Leaders have always been incredibly powerful enemies in Pokemon GO. Team Rocket Leader Arlo is no exception and is back in the game. Here is all you need to know in this Pokemon GO Arlo January 2023 guide about how to beat this difficult boss.

Before getting into this "how to beat Pokemon GO Arlo January 2023" strategy, you need to know that each Team Rocket Leader uses three Shadow Pokemon, the latter two of which shift around. The first Pokemon Arlo uses is Mawile, which you can catch for yourself after you win, but the remaining two will each be random amongst three other Pokemon respectively.

You won't know which Pokemon Arlo will use for his final two until you're in battle. Of course, you can battle Arlo as many times as you want after a first attempt. On the other hand, if you're working with limited CP-boosting Stardust and Candies, as well as limited TMs - or simply have limited time - it is far better to pick and optimise a specific line-up beforehand.

Arlo Pokemon #1: Mawile

A dual Steel and Fairy Type, it is better to hone on the former by using Pokemon with Fire-type attacks for their Fast Moves and Charge Moves. The best choices would be legendaries like Entei, Moltres, or Reshiram, but normal Pokemon like Blaziken, Houndoom, and Darmanitan, are powerful enough choices in their own right.

You can also use a Ground-type like Garchomp, but we will get into why Fire-type is the best choice further along.

Arlo Pokemon #2: Charizard, Salamence or Staraptor

You won't know which of the three Pokemon Arlo will use after Mawile. So, it's ideal if you choose a counter with move types that cover said three as broadly as possible. Between Charizard, Salamance, and Staraptor, that would be a Rock-type, since all of them are part-Flying-type.

The best Pokemon to use here with Rock-Type moves would be Aerodactyl, Golem, Rampardos, Rhyperior, Terrakion, and Tyranitar.

Arlo Pokemon #3: Dragonite, Granbull, or Scizor

Expectedly, Arlo's third Pokemon is to most difficult to prepare for since all three potential encounters have no weaknesses in common. However, you can make up for this by utilising one of the other two members of your team used to counter Arlo's other two Pokemon if they haven't already fainted.

The Fairy-type Granbull would be easiest to counter by dedicating your third Pokemon as one with Poison or Steel-type attacks. The best examples would be Dialga, Excadrill, Metagross, Lucario, Roserade, and Toxicroak.

This could make things difficult if Arlo's third Pokemon turns out to be Scizor though, its only weakness being Fire-type and resistant to Poison and Steel. However, since Arlo's Mawile will have the lowest CP, it's most likely your starting Fire-type will still have HP, you can switch out your Fire-type afterwards and save it for Scizor.

The same applies to Dragonite, it's part Flying-type also making it weak to Rock attacks. After you have defeated Arlo's second Pokemon and if the third ends up being Dragonite, keep your Rock-type out and have it keep inflicting as much super-effective damage as possible.

Of course, if you're able to take on Arlo more than once, you can also switch into your team an additional Fire-type for Scizor or Rock-type for Dragonite respectively.

That's a wrap on this "Pokemon GO Arlo January 2023" how-to-beat guide. For even more Pokemon GO guides, you can be sure to find them right here at GGRecon.
