During launch, the Elden Ring Mimic Tear was the most overpowered Spirit Ash in the whole game, allowing you to sit back and watch as it beat difficult bosses to a pulp all on its own. Elden Ring has seen many patches since and while the Mimic Tear isn't as strong as it once was, it's still one of the most powerful Spirit Ashes you can use. So, if you need to know where to find and acquire the Elden Ring Mimic Tear, we've got you covered.

You have probably heard mention of the Mimic Tear Ash around the internet, as it is a hot topic in the realm of what’s good in Elden Ring. Where most Spirit Ashes allow you to summon some wolves, soldiers, or maybe a jellyfish, the Mimic Tear Ash summons an exact copy of you.

This spirit is your doppelganger, it has your stats and your gear. If you have powerful spells, the Mimic Tear Ash spirit will cast them. Want to him a boss with not one Comet Azur, but two at the same time? Now you can!

  • A big part of getting the Mimic Tear involves completing Blaidd's sidequest. For more on that, check out Elden Ring Blaidd: Where To Find Blaidd and How To Complete His Side Quest.

There is quite a lot of work involved in getting the Mimic Tear Ash, but luckily a lot of it runs parallel to the things you will need to do in the main story quest. Your first task is to jump on the Blaidd The Half-Wolf sidequest, for which there is a link above. Follow those quest steps to meet Ranni and begin her quest, and all of this will lead you to face off against Starscourge Radahn. This is no mean feat, Radahn is one of the toughest bosses in the game, but again this is part of the main story. When you finish the fight, a cutscene will play showing a star crashing to the ground. Where it fell is your next port of call.

While it isn’t obvious at first where the star fell, once you find the location all will become quickly apparent. Head to Limgrave, specifically the area just west of Fort Haight. At this point, what was once some open terrain is now a massive crater, with many rocks floating in the air above it. Again, very obvious where you need to go. Make your way down into the hole, until you come to a large doorway. Enter it and you will find you are in the lost eternal city of Nokron, if you check your map it will be the underground map for the Siofra River.

This area asks you to do quite a bit of platforming, but follow the path as it is and you shouldn’t have an issue. Cross the rooftops avoiding enemies, and go inside through a window. Drop down to the floor below and go through the door ahead for a much-needed site of grace.

Next, you need to head out into the courtyard area and across to the opposite side. You’ll see a tall but narrow arch there, go through and head down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs go right. Go into the large building and you will be confronted by a boss. You need to defeat this boss in order to continue.

When the boss is defeated, you can exit the room to the north. Hop on your horse and follow the bridge north until you see a broken section on the left side. Up ahead, take a left where a path heads off up the hill, and between the rocks you will find another site of grace. From here, you need to jump down to the ledge ahead. Follow the ledges around the corner to the right and you will enter Night’s Sacred Ground.

Follow the path ahead, jumping from one building to the next, deal with the two enemies and at the end go left through a gap between the buildings. On the other side, drop down onto a broken bridge, cross it and drop down into the room ahead. On the other side of the room, there will be a corridor to a door blocked by a Stonesword imp. Use a Stonesword to open the door, go inside, defeat the enemy and open the treasure chest to finally receive the Mimic Tear Ashes.

It’s a long slog to get to, but the Mimic Tears is absolutely worth it. With this, you can potentially double your damage output by having two of you in a fight.

To absolutely max out your damage, check out how to get the Elden Ring Comet Azur spell.
