Elden Ring Golden Scarab: Where To Go
Click to enlargeThe Golden Scarab talisman is a reward for completing a particular dungeon. It’s tricky to find, trickier to get through, and the final boss is no slouch. To begin, you need to head to Caelid. If you haven’t been to this area, or if you have and you found the enemies particularly tough, you might want to leave doing this until later. If you feel up to the challenge, the dungeon is called the Abandoned Cave.
In the centre of the region there is a large canyon. Approach from the west, the best place to start is the Smoldering Wall site of grace. From there, go directly east until you reach the chasm. Try to avoid the big dog things and the statue on wheels with the spinning blades. Just east of where you meet that statuesque enemy, you should find a tree root sticking out of the cliff, which can be crossed to the other side. Cross it and you will find yourself at the mouth of the Abandoned Cave.

Elden Ring Golden Scarab: How To Clear The Dungeon
Click to enlargeThe Abandoned Cave has a few tricks up its sleeve, but we have some tips that will see you through. Two things you need to be aware of is rot and poison. Much of the dungeon is filled with crimson rot, an unpleasant substance that covers the cave floor. The rot slows you down but under no circumstances should you ever roll through it, because rolling will cover your body in rot and make the build-up even worse.
However, you can still backstep in the rot. The quickest way to move through rot is to face the opposite direction from where you want to go and hit Circle/B repeatedly to quickly backstep through it. At the start of the dungeon, you need to drop off a ledge into the rot. Jump down and turn around, then backstep your way to safety.

Click to enlargeAs if the rot wasn’t bad enough, many of the enemies you will encounter in this pitch-black cave cast poison spells at you. The best thing to do for this is to stay on your toes. Keep moving and they shouldn’t be able to hit you.
Make your way to the end of the dungeon and you will have to take on the bosses. Yes, bosses plural- they are really making you work for this scarab. There are two Cleanrot Knights, one with a sword and one with a spear. Highly recommend using a spirit summon here, especially something like the Lone Wolves, to give yourself the numbers advantage. These knights can do rot damage as well, so be mindful of the meter building up when they hit you. Take both of these knights down and the Golden Scarab talisman is yours!
