Elden Ring Confessor Build: Starting And Levelling

As a Confessor, you will begin the game at level ten, with your Faith stat as the highest, followed by Mind, Strength, and Dexterity. Even though Faith is the highest, the Confessor class doesn't really have an obvious advantage in any stats from the beginning, as the spread is fairly wide, but you will be specialising in both magic and melee weaponry. You also start the game with the Broadsword, Kite Shield, and a Finger Seal. 

For our Elden Ring Confessor build, we suggest focussing on the Faith and Strength stats as your mains, with Dexterity and Vigor second, followed by Endurance and Mind. This will allow you to scale your damage with the Faith and Strength stats, while the rest will give you the necessary HP, stamina, and FP to make it through the game.

Elden Ring Confessor Build: Best Weapons

For the best weapons for this build, you will have to wait as they come later in the game. The first weapon you will want to aim for is the Zweihänder. This is a colossal sword that can be purchased from the Isolated Merchant in the very west of the Weeping Peninsula for 3500 runes. You'll likely have to spend some time farming levels due to the cost and the requirement of 19 Strength, so check out our Elden Ring rune farm guide to help you out. 

Another weapon you can get early is the Dragon Communion Seal, which will allow you to cast Faith incantations, and is much better than the seal you start with. It can be found in the Fringefolk Hero's Grave which is right before you come out into the open world, though you will need two Elden Ring Stonesword Keys to get in. 

Once you start getting later into the game and have the necessary levels to start getting powerful Faith-based gear, you will want to seek out the Godslayer's Greatsword. This sword is quite expensive to wield from a stats point of view, as it requires 20 Strength and Faith, along with 22 Dexterity. It's a very powerful weapon though, and it will last you a while. It can be found after defeating the Godskin Apostle in the Divine Tower of Caelid. 

Now onto the key weapon for this build - the Blasphemous Blade. This is a greatsword that requires 22 Strength, 21 Faith, and 15 Dexterity to wield, scaling particularly well with those first two stats. You will first have to defeat the Elden Ring Rykard boss in the Mt. Gelmir region to earn his Remembrance of the Blasphemous. Afterwards, take it to Enia at the Roundtable Hold to claim it for yourself. It has high physical damage and extra fire damage, along with a heal after killing an enemy. This skill is powerful, healing you for even more, and scaling purely with Faith, allowing you to deal insane fire damage at higher levels. 

Elden Ring Confessor Build: Best Armour

For the armour of this build, our first suggestion is the Mausoleum Knight set. This can be farmed quite easily in Liurnia of the Lakes, or near the Walking Mausoleum in the Weeping Peninsula. It has superb physical and magical protection for an armour set that you can earn this early on, so it's worth spending some time gathering all the pieces. This will tide you over well into the endgame, but we do have a better set to seek out.

The Briar set should be your armour end goal thanks to its incredible protections that allow it to work for a manner of all builds. It can be earned after defeating Elemer of the Briar, a boss found in The Shaded Castle to the west of the Altus Plateau region. Once you've done this, return to the Roundtable Hold where you can purchase it from Enia. While this is a full armour set, we do recommend replacing the helmet with the Ruler's Mask to cap off this part of the build. It doesn't have the greatest protection, but it will increase your Faith while wearing it. It can be found on a corpse north-east of the Abandoned Coffin Lost Grace, which can be accessed from the Ruin-Strewn Precipice dungeon.

Finally, we have some talismans to round off the build, starting with the Two Fingers Heirloom, which gives you a flat bonus of five to your Faith when equipped. This can be found in a chest inside the Purified Ruins, located to the south of Liurnia, making it a good early talisman. 

Another top choice is Faithful's Canvas Talisman, which raises the potency of all your incantations. This is great for dealing extra damage or healing yourself for more, and it can be found on a corpse inside the Sellia Crystal Tunnel. Once you've got the weapons you will need, the Carian Filigreed Crest is a great choice. This will lower the FP consumption of all skills, letting you put out more damage consistently. 

When it comes to spells, Faith users have a lot of choices for high damage and utility spells. Heals or status effect removing spells are top choices, along with any of the dragon spells, such as Greyoll's Roar.
