Cyberpunk 2077 endings are affected by your choices throughout the game, and there are a few to choose from. Cyberpunk 2077 has options typical of a CDPR role-playing game, there is a definitive main story but how it ends depends on your actions. Endings are thankfully quite easy to get, so long as you know which paths to take. Here is how to get all of the Cyberpunk 2077 endings.

Let's first discuss the endings without spoiling anything major, just so that if you have never finished the game, you can at least get an idea of what to do. Depending on how you look at it, because there is some overlap in the various endings, there are five to seven endings to the game.

In terms of what you can do over the course of the game to affect the ending, your choices are quite clear. The ending itself is a choice, V will come to a point where they must choose how to resolve things. Which choices are available to you at this point depends on your earlier actions. For example, Panam is a character you can have a relationship with, whether it be sexual or just friendship. Regardless, finishing her storyline will give you one of the possible options for how to end the game. Another character who you must complete your side missions with is Rogue, as that also unlocks a potential ending.

There are two other options which are always available at this point, either work with Arasaka, or V can choose to end things there and then. One of those is obviously a terrible option, and unfortunately, the other one isn't much better. However, if you have not met the prerequisites of the other endings, then these options are all you have.

The final option at this point is the secret ending. There is a more detailed guide below on how to access the secret ending, but you should know it is the hardest to get, and the hardest to finish. Just getting the option for the secret ending takes some work and plenty of forethought, and it leads to the toughest fight in the game. This is a better option for a second playthrough, but if you are determined to become a legend in Night City, read on to learn more. Massive spoilers ahead.

Cyberpunk 2077 Endings: Arasaka

Meeting Hanako Arasaka

The Arasaka ending is a possibility no matter what you do. You can take Hanako up on her deal and go with her. This will involve going with her and Hellman to Arasaka and meeting with the board of directors. Her brother Yorinobu has become CEO of Arasaka since he murdered their father, and Hanako needs your help to convince the board of her brother's guilt.

You will go with Hanako and attend the meeting, until it all goes south and Yorinobu's forces attack. You need to fight them off, then make your way through the facility to find him. Doing so will have you up against dozens of Arasaka soldiers, and eventually, cross paths with Adam Smasher. Defeat Smasher, then confront Yorinobu in his office.

After some dialogue, we cut to V on an Arasaka space station, being treated for the removal of the biochip. Afterwards, the bad news comes in. V is still dying. The toll the chip took on their body is irreversible. You are given two choices, either allow Arasaka to copy your consciousness and store it in Mikoshi, effectively become their property, or refuse and return to Earth to live out your few remaining months.

Provided you have put the time and effort into your relationships with them, you can go to either Panam or Rogue for help. They each have quests tied to them, complete those quests in order to unlock their options for the ending. If you go with Panam, you will be acting as V. If you go with Rogue, you will be relinquishing your body to Johnny Silverhand. The missions as they play out are different, but the idea is similar. Storm Arasaka Tower, find Mikoshi and get the biochip removed.

Both endings lead to Arasaka Tower, both involve a fight with Adam Smasher, and both involve someone else dying along the way.

Regardless of which path you choose, there is a choice to be made at the end. Either V continues to live in their body, or Johnny takes over. In both cases, if you choose Johnny then you will play out a day as him; help out a young new rocker boy, visit the cemetery, and then take a bus out of Night City, never to return.

If you choose to let V live, you get a different ending depending on whether you came with Rogue or Panam. Rogue gets you the Path of Glory ending, where V becomes a legend of Night City. You wake up in an expensive apartment, and if you had a romantic relationship with Panam or Judy, they will be there too. However, both will tell V that they are leaving Night City, knowing that V will die soon and they will never see each other again. After that, V goes to the Afterlife and meets with Mr Blue Eyes about planning a heist on the Crystal Palace, a casino on a space station. The game ends with V floating through space, gun in hand, ready to infiltrate the casino.

If V lives and you have gone with Panam, you get the All Along the Watchtower ending. This is arguably the happiest ending in the game. In this one, after the events of Arasaka Tower, V agrees to join the Aldecaldos and leave Night City. The game ends with V and Panam piloting the hover tank, joining the convoy of Aldecaldos heading for the border. You drive through a tunnel under the border wall and escape Night City for good. The game ends with the tank speeding across the desert, V and Panam sitting on it together, letting go of the past and moving toward whatever future they have left.

Cyberpunk 2077 Endings: Secret Ending

The secret ending was a bit of a myth for a while, as triggering it can be difficult. The gist of how it happens is, you must have a certain affinity with Johnny Silverhand. Basically, you need to make friends with the rocker/terrorist ghost that lives in your head. Now, thematically speaking, you need to improve your relationship with Johnny in order to unlock this secret ending. However, testing has proven you do not necessarily need to have a high synergy percentage as you might think.

Instead, there are some very specific choices you must make when dealing with Johnny at certain points in the game. First and foremost, you must complete all four parts of the Tapeworm side job. This side job appears in parts after certain main missions are completed. Those missions are Automatic Love, Transmission, Life During Wartime, and Search and Destroy. Complete Tapeworm and you will gain access to another side job called Chippin' In.

During the Chippin' In mission, you will bring Johnny to the place where he was buried. You will sit across from him, and carve his name into the debris. After this, a conversation takes place and it is during this conversation that you need to give the right responses. Here are the responses you should give;

  • When Johnny asks what you would put on his headstone, say "The man who saved my life."
  • When Johnny says he's managed one thing, not mess up what we have, say "Nah, f**ked that up too."
  • He then asks for a second chance, respond with "What do you want from me?"
  • When Johnny says it seemed like you didn't hate him until now, respond "OK. But as second chances go, this is your last."
  • After V says they are first among suckers, choose "you were a real dick in the beginning."
  • When Johnny says he never thought you'd make it this far, say "When you said you let down your friends…"
  • When talking about Rogue, respond "Smasher biz really got to her."
  • Finally, when Johnny asks if you would call Rogue sometime, agree to do it.

After this, it is time to level up and get as many powerful weapons as you can. The secret ending is the hardest part of the game, no question about it. You should be at least level 40 before you attempt it, ideal max level with top-tier weapons and armour. Otherwise, continue the game as normal.

Once you reach the quest called NocturneOP55N1, go through it up until the last part, where you are sitting on a balcony with Johnny. Regardless of how you play the game, you always end up here and have to make a decision. This is the point of no return, at which you must choose how to end the game, but the secret ending is not immediately available. In order to start the secret ending, you must sit with Johnny and choose nothing for at least five minutes. Eventually, Johnny will make a suggestion. Instead of going with Hanako, or storming Arasaka Tower with Rogue or Panam, you go it alone. March into the tower by yourself, and fight your way to Mikoshi.

This is why you need to level up a lot and bring your most powerful weapons, you are facing the full might of Arasaka by yourself. You will have to fight through waves of guards, mechs, and of course, Adam Smasher. If you die at any point during the mission, the credits will roll and that is your ending. However, if you manage to pull this off, you will get to Mikoshi and you have two options once again. V, or Johnny.

If you choose Johnny, you get the exact same series of events as you do when choosing Johnny in the other endings. If you choose V, you get the Path of Glory ending like you would have if you went with Rogue. V becomes a legend, the boss of the underworld, and it ends with V floating towards the Crystal Palace.

However, the main difference in this ending is, no one else dies. If you go with Panam, Saul is killed by Adam Smasher. If you go with Rogue, she is the one who gets killed. By going alone and succeeding, no one else dies. This shows in the fact that during the secret ending when you go to Afterlife, you can see and talk to Rogue, standing at the bar. This ending is a huge test, but it is one fitting a legend.

That is it for the Cyberpunk 2077 endings. For more on the game, check out our Cyberpunk 2077 cars list.
