Cyberpunk 2077 was once upon a time a car crash that no player could look away from. Sure, it ran fine if you had an unbelievable PC rig to hold up its demands, but if you were playing on console, the game was a mess.

Buggy, broken, and collapsing by the day, it took PlayStation pulling Cyberpunk 2077 from its digital storefronts to show the world just how catastrophic the launch of the game was.

Thankfully, with constant updates and optimisations, the sci-fi shooter has mostly stabilised. But the game seems to have lofty ambitions regarding what it expects fans will be willing to part with.

Though some are still burned by Cyberpunk 2077's launch, there are plenty of dedicated fans still awaiting the next chapter in its story. They might be disappointed to see that after everything, Cyberpunk 2077 is still hoping to charge for its new content.

Confirming the news to GamesRadar, CD PROJEKT RED's global PR director Radek Grabowski indicated that "as for the expansion's pricing - we have not revealed exact details yet, but it will be a paid one."

He states that the company's expansions "are traditionally cheaper than full-price games," so we may be safe from a huge overhaul. Without knowing the DLC's price, it's still a quandary that the company and its fans have found themselves in.

Is It Right For Cyberpunk 2077's DLC To Be Paid?

It's standard practice for single-player RPG games to charge for their story additions in the form of DLCs. However, after all of the mess of the Cyberpunk 2077 launch, many had hoped they'd be able to play the new narrative for free.

This is a morally grey area, but the bottom line is that CD PROJEKT RED can charge what it likes, even if it implies the developer thinks it has successfully made it up to disappointed fans. This news is bound to cause more controversy for the game - like it needed any more.
