Destructible environments look to be making an exciting comeback. Ever since Battlefield introduced them back in the Xbox 360/PS3 days, companies have wanted to follow suit, but never quite had the chops to pull it off. Now, as Battlefield 2042 is on its way and Call of Duty: Vanguard is rumoured to feature some destructible features, it looks like the gameplay addition could be having a resurgence.

And it looks like the FPS isn’t the only genre to give it a spin, as the feature could be coming to the sequel of one of the highest-selling games of all time.

GTA 6 Could Be Getting Destructible Skyscrapers

A job listing for an upcoming Rockstar Games North project has come to light, that is searching for somebody who can help design soundscapes - but one line, in particular, has pricked a few Grand Theft Auto fans’ ears.

The job listing states “we help to bring extra life to the environment, characters, weapons, vehicles, and more. The visual effects help to immerse the player in a believable world, from using ambient effects for things like insects around the player and rain dripping off buildings up to large-scale destruction events like skyscrapers crashing to the ground.” Sorry, say again?

This could be a scripted set-piece, of course, but there’s every chance that this could mean that destructible buildings could be on their way to GTA VI - and it’s one hell of a way to raise the stakes of the game.

But, that’s not all.

What Else Do We Know About GTA 6?

There’s practically nothing that we know about GTA 6 that is confirmed - not even the fact that it’s coming at all. But, leaks and rumours have been our friend so far, and we’re starting to get a picture of what the game will actually end up looking like.

A big rumour suggests that the game will include hurricanes and alligators, another suggests a ‘90s setting, and some insiders have reason to believe that the next Grand Theft Auto game could be the last mainline title ever.

It’s a bold claim, but even so - it’s expected that the game will be announced along with the GTA Remastered Trilogy’s launch, which was revealed in the latest gameplay trailer to be only next month.

It’s hard to glean what the finished game will look like, but we can make one assumption - that it’s going to be absolutely massive.
