The future of Assassin's Creed is fast approaching. And we can't wait to see what's next.

The series has undergone a lot of change over the years, transitioning from a stealthy rooftop-running romp to an almost Soulslike open-world adventure. The games have made a new name for themselves with Valhalla, but the series looks to be returning to its roots somewhat with the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage, set to be announced at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event.

But, though the series seems keen to relive the glory days, that doesn't mean it won't be testing new waters.

New Assassin's Creed Could Feature Samurai And Witches

In a new report from leaker Tom Henderson via Try Hard Guides, Ubisoft is planning to unveil a collection of Assassin's Creed titles as a part of their reveal of the "future" of the series. We know for sure that Mirage will appear - but supposedly, the mainline games don't end there.

Henderson claims that two other games are set for reveal at the event, starting with Project Red, a game set in Japan and featuring Samurai, and Project Hexe, a game that takes place during the 16th-century Witch Hunts and supposedly will be taking the series down a darker narrative path.

It's interesting to hear this speculation, given that it'd be hard to imagine from the release of the first Assassin's Creed game that the series would reach to Vikings stomping through Valhalla. Though it may seem bonkers on the surface, this isn't actually all that far-fetched, and could be an interesting turn for the series.

When Do The New Assassin's Creed Games Come Out?

As corroborated by Bloomberg, we can expect that Mirage will launch at some point in 2023, but we might have to wait a little longer for the other two.

The games are speculated to see release no earlier than 2024, and it'd be interesting to see if the unannounced games both got a release in the same year. Failing this, we can expect one in 2024, and the other the following year.

Assassin's Creed has already built a big legacy of styles, and it looks like there are more to join the roster. We're very keen.
