You get a spin-off, you get a spin-off, everybody gets a spin-off. Well, that seems to be Netflix's school of thought when it comes to The Witcher.

While the Witcherverse has been rocked to its core by the shock departure of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, there are spin-offs galore as we expand the Continent.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is due out on December 25 as a prequel set a thousand years before the main series, but apparently, the next The Witcher spin-off will be a little closer to home.

What's The Latest The Witcher Spin-Off?

Known The Witcher leaker Redanian Intelligence claims that Netflix is working on another spin-off. This time, it'll be based on the criminal gang known as The Rats.

The site writes, "We have learned that the next live-action spinoff of The Witcher will explore the infamous group of young Nilfgaardian misfits called The Rats. In the books, The Rats are featured in Ciri's storyline as she joins them for a period of time."

Apparently, The Rats will make their debut in episode seven of The Witcher season 3, return in episode eight, and have a more prominent part to play in season 4.

Between seasons - and the upcoming recast of Cavill with Liam Hemsworth - Redanian Intelligence says there will be a spin-off for The Rats. It's unclear whether it will be an origin story or continue from their time with Ciri in season 3.

The Rats have already been cast for season 3, but the site notes that they aren't exactly the most popular group of characters. With this in mind, they're questioning whether The Rats warrant a whole series dedicated to them.

What's Next For The Witcher?

Despite the Witcherverse being thrown into turmoil by Cavillgate, Netflix and franchise overseer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich are powering ahead.

Unfortunately, recasting the lead just three seasons in already has a knock-on effect. The trailer for Blood Origin was slammed with negative comments as fans demand Cavill's return.

There are those claiming they'll boycott season 4, while others are refusing to watch season 3. Putting all of this together, now might not be the best time to announce a spin-off.

Either way, we'll have to get used to Hemsworth putting on that white wig because it's all change in the Witcherverse.
