The Witcherverse keeps on growing, and despite the recent release of The Witcher: Blood Origin being (officially) the worst thing Netflix has ever released, the main series is powering forward.

More than just critics negatively review-bombing the spin-off because they can't get over Henry Cavill's imminent departure as Geralt of Rivia, it's clear not all aspects of The Witcher are translating well on the streaming screen.

What's Going On With The Witcher?

It's all change, as Cavill is out - replaced by The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth for Season 4. Some are vowing to boycott the fantasy epic ahead of this, but apparently, it won't deter Netflix.

According to trusted The Witcher leaker, Redanian Intelligence, the streaming service is planning on filming Season 4 and Season 5 back-to-back.

In September 2022, the site reported that there were plans for at least two more seasons, but remember, that was before we knew Cavill was leaving the series.

Now, Redanian Intelligence claims we're still powering ahead with Season 4 and 5. They say that Season 4 is still in the early stages of development, while writing on both seasons will take at least half of 2023.

Interestingly, the site reports that Hemsworth was already "on board" when these plans were sketched out. Either way, we're promised there's a heroic sendoff planned for Cavill at the end of Season 3.

Will The Witcher End After Season 5?

The question on everyone's lips is whether The Witcher will call it quits after five seasons. Redanian Intelligence said they couldn't get a straight answer on this, saying, "It's very much up in the air at the moment."

There's the idea that many franchises end by filming back-to-back, but it's unclear whether The Witcher will follow suit.

Remember that when Cavill was Geralt, he said he was all-in on plans for a seven-season arc. Whatever is going on, we at least know The Witcher Season 4 is on the way.

Even though it's more than a bit of a gamble to try and lock in Season 5 went there's been such a backlash to Hemsworth taking over from Cavill, it's clear the team has high hopes that the series can turn things around.
