We're dancing like Darunia, as fresh rumours claim more Zelda remakes could be on the way. Better yet, Link could be tootling his ocarina from just around the corner. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 might not be the only game on the horizon for the franchise.

The Hero of Hyrule has been a part of our lives since 1986, and in that time, Nintendo has churned out a tonne of Zelda titles. From legends like Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild through to forgotten greats like A Link to the Past and out-there outings like Phantom Hourglass, we've seen it all. But where are our remakes?

Are More Zelda Remakes On The Way?

In 2021, Nintendo released Skyward Sword HD on the Nintendo Switch. As the starting point of the whole series' chronology, it made sense. Sadly, as an already divisive entry, it wasn't exactly a hit with fans. At least Skyward Sword HD opened up the floodgates to the idea of more Zelda remakes, and there are two that crop up time and again.

According to Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti (via the Last of the Nintendogs podcast), the fan-favourite Twilight Princess and Wind Waker could be on the cards. Minotti reiterated: "We are committing to it: there's going to be a Nintendo Direct in September," then added, "The one thing we are very, very sure is getting announced at this Direct are the Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports for Switch."

Although most would think this will all be to do with Breath of the Wild 2, Grubb thinks there's more to it. He described it as a "Zelda blowout" and concluded that even if he hadn't heard rumours of the mythical ports, he'd still be speculating that would be on the way or a Nintendo Direct. Well, we'd better start saving those Rupees.

Why Twilight Princess And Wind Waker Remakes?

If we do get Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, it would be one for the history books. Both games were legends of the GameCube (and then Wii for Twilight Princess) and have since had HD ports. Sadly, Wind Waker's HD revamp has been locked to the Wii U since 2013, so is long overdue an overhaul. Going against these remakes, Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma previously downplayed the idea.

As or when the Direct could take place, the pair pointed to the week of September 12, meaning we don't have long to wait at all. Admittedly, they weren't sure what kind of Direct it would be, and with Zelda there, it's unlikely to be a bombastic third-party-focused Partner Direct. Much like the long-spoiled The Last of Us Part 1, we've heard about Twilight Princess and Wind Waker a little much for them not to be real.
