Kojima is back. Maybe. Probably. The thing with video game auteur Hideo Kojima is that we can never really anticipate what's coming. Whether it's genuine sleuth or sheer insanity, the bizarro approach to making video games from Kojima is always a joy to watch.

The gaming legend is clearly fuelled by sincere passion and, most notably, the strangest concepts you've ever heard. Rumour has it that he's got a new game on the way - currently referred to as Overdose. There are already suggestions Overdose could tie itself to P.T, Kojima's playable trailer for the now-cancelled Silent Hills. Others think it could secretly be Death Stranding 2

Is Overdose Secretly Death Stranding 2?

Overdose, according to leaker Tom Henderson, has had some footage leaked, that sees a jumpscare followed by a game over screen, and then… "A Hideo Kojima Game… OVERDOSE."

Because we haven't seen the footage, speculation has grown rife as to what the game could look like - but some are convinced that it's Death Stranding 2 in disguise.

Fans think because Margaret Qualley (the actress for Mama in Death Stranding) is assuming the role of the protagonist in Overdose, it's proof this could be Death Stranding 2 - set after the sixth extinction event that Sam Bridges postponed in the first game. It could also feature different versions of the character we know.

Could Overdose Really Be A Red Herring?

Though it seems like a stretch for any other developer, this is fairly feasible for Kojima - mostly because his work isn't feasible by design. It's a bizarre way of announcing and revealing games, but it's hard to forget the rug being pulled from under as it was revealed that P.T was actually a demo for Silent Hills.

Let's also remember Metal Gear Solid V was announced as though it was a standalone title called The Phantom Pain, Kojima clearly loves his subterfuge. Kojima is one of the most unpredictable creators in the video game space, and frankly, anything is possible with his titles. Whether Death Stranding 2 or its own mainline title, we're excited to see what Overdose has to offer.
