How Much Is FFXIV A Month?

- Entry Tier (30 Days): $12.99/£7.69/€10.99
- Standard Tier (30 Days): $14.99/£8.99/€12.99
- Standard Tier (90 Days): $13.99/£8.39/€11.99
- Standard Tier (180 Days): $12.99/£7.69/€10.99
As you can see, the two best value options are the 30 days Entry Tier and the 180 days Standard Tier, but which one you choose very much depends on how you want to play.
If you're only really bothered about having one character, then the Entry Tier will be perfect for you, as you are restricted to a maximum of eight characters per server and physical data centre.
However, if you're wanting to play with lots of different characters, then Standard will need to be the option for you, as it allows eight per server and up to 40 per physical data centre.

Which Edition Of FFXIV Should I Buy?
Click to enlargeThe various different editions of FFXIV can be quite confusing too, as it isn't exactly clear how much crossover there is, and what expansions are actually included.
Currently, there are five different editions of FFXIV available for purchase, that all come with different benefits for different types of players. Here are all five and their individual prices:
- FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition: $19.99/£9.99
- FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Complete Edition (Standard): $59.99/£34.99
- FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Complete Edition (Collector's): $139.99/£84.99
- FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker Standard Edition: $39.99/£29.99
- FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker Collector's Edition: $199.99/$140.00/$59.99/£44.99
The Starter Edition is generally rather redundant outside of a few added benefits. It includes the full A Realm Reborn story, in addition to the Heavensward expansion pack. However, these are both included within the free trial - which we will go into more detail about below - and you will have to pay the monthly fee after the first 30 days if you buy the Starter Edition.
However, you will not be subject to any form of level cap, and you can access certain things like the Market Board that are otherwise restricted from free trial users.
The Complete Edition on the other hand is well worth the price of entry if you've done everything possible within the free trial. In simple terms, it gives you full access to the base game and all four expansions: Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker.
The Complete Edition (Collector's) comes with all four expansions, and a boat load of in-game bonus items for each expansion. Here's a full list of what you will get:

As you can see, there is an abundance of items to enjoy here. So, if you're loving the game at the end of your free trial it might be worth it for you to pick this edition up.
If you've already been playing the full version of Final Fantasy XIV though and want to jump into the latest expansion, then the Endwalker Standard Edition is for you. This just includes (as the name suggests) the Endwalker expansion, and also the other three if you've missed any along the way.
If you're wanting to get the in-game bonus items alongside this though, then the Endwalker Collector's Edition is for you. The Digital Collector's Edition will simply get you all of the bonus in-game items, but there are also two physical collector's editions that you can pick up if you want to show off the game in real life. FFXIV Free Trial Explained: What Is Included?
Click to enlargeYou might be wondering what's actually included in the Final Fantasy XIV free trial, as it can be quite confusing if you're jumping in for the first time. In terms of content, FFXIV free trial users will be able to play through A Realm Reborn and the first expansion Heavensward. There is no limit to the amount of time that you can spend in-game, nor how long you can have the free trial for; however, there are a number of restrictions to what you can do in-game:
- Can only purchase some items from the Online Store.
- Can create up to eight playable characters but only one per world.
- Cannot progress past Level 60.
- Cannot possess more than 300,000 Gil.
- Cannot use certain chat options like 'Shout', 'Yell', or 'Tell'.
- Cannot access the in-game Market Board.
- Cannot trade with other players.
- Cannot use the Moogle Delivery Service to send letters.
- Cannot hire Retainers.
- Cannot create or join a Free Company.
- Cannot assemble a party by themselves.
- Cannot create or join a PvP team, or participate in The Feast.
- Cannot log into the Lodestone forum or the Companion app.
As you can see, there is still quite a lot that you are unable to do on a free trial, but it very much depends on how much you will actually make use of what you're missing out on. Our advice is to play the free trial until you cannot do any more, and then purchase the full game if you're still enjoying yourself.
