Elden Ring Smithing Stones are key items for upgrading your weapons and making them more powerful for your journey through Lands Between. Elden Ring takes a lot of cues from previous FromSoftware games, its weapons especially are particularly familiar to Dark Souls fans. You'll need to improve your weaponry to have a chance with the difficult bosses, so read our full breakdown on Elden Ring Smithing Stones.

Smithing Stones are the resource you use to improve your gear in Elden Ring. These are the equivalent of Titanite from Dark Souls, so they are extremely important to gather. Smithing Stones are tiered items, early on you will find mostly Smithing Stone (1) items, but further on you will see Smithing Stone (2) and (3), etc. You need higher tiers of Smithing Stones for higher levels of improvement. Early on, you really want to gather as many first and second-tier Smithing Stones as you can.

Smithing Stones can be found in the world in numerous places. You will naturally discover many of them while exploring and picking up items you find. One of the best ways to find plenty of Smithing Stones is in tunnel dungeons. For example, dungeons such as Limgrave Tunnel and Morne Tunnel are both mines with an abundance of Smithing Stones inside. Seek these places out to stock up on Smithing Stones.

Also, getting the Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing from the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel and giving it to the Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold will get them to start selling Smithing Stones, tier one and two. Long story short, seek out tunnels and any place mining might be happening and you’re likely to find some Smithing Stones.

In order to upgrade your weapons, you need two things: enough Runes, and you need the correct amount of Smithing Stones. The numbers of each will increase with each level, and higher levels require higher tiers of Smithing Stones. There is a smithing table at the Church of Elleh that you can use early on but for the most part, you will want to go to Smithing Master Hewg in the Roundtable Hold.

Hewg can take your gear to much higher levels than you can do with a smithing table yourself. To improve your weapons, talk to him and select strengthen armament. Select your weapon to improve it to a plus one, plus two, etc. Each level increases the weapons stats, such as damage and how well it scales with your attributes. This is a vital process to keep up with the increasing difficulty of the game, so visit Hewg often to continue your upgrades.

That is everything you need to know on Elden Ring Smithing Stones and how you should use them. For more on the game, why not check out Elden Ring Keepsakes: Best Keepsake To Choose When Creating A Character.
