Destiny 2 Prolonged Engagement is a new weapon that is turning some heads. Destiny 2 has a massive arsenal of weapons for players to acquire. Prolonged Engagement is catching the attention of players due to the type of weapon it is and the type of damage it does. Here is everything you need to know about Destiny 2 Prolonged Engagement.

Prolonged Engagement is a Veist SMG, not a super rare exotic weapon, but a type of weapon that players will know has been important for some time. Previous Veist SMGs include Funnelweb, one of the best weapons in the game currently, and the Recluse, a gun that, in its day, was so useful that it rivalled Gjallarhorn in ubiquity.

The Veist SMG has become a favoured weapon type, and Prolonged Engagement is an interesting take on that weapon. There have been a number of Veist SMGs over the years, and each one has been an energy weapon. Most have been Void weapons, such as Funnelweb and Recluse. However, Prolonged Engagement is a Stasis weapon.

Why this is interesting is, Stasis weapons appear in the kinetic slot, freeing up your energy weapon choice for something else. Prolonged Engagement can be as good as a Funnelweb, meaning fans of that weapon can make some different choices regarding their weapon loadouts.

The Prolonged Engagement is a legendary weapon that is a reward in Vanguard Ops. It isn't a specific reward like a pinnacle or seasonal reward. Instead, it is a random drop from completing Vanguard Ops, like Strikes and Battlegrounds. To get the most out of the weapon, you will need to grind out plenty of Vanguard activities, and for two reasons.

Firstly, simply getting the weapon. It isn't a critically rare drop, if you play plenty of Vanguard Ops you are pretty much guaranteed to get some. As a random drop, it has random perk rolls, meaning you will likely need to go through a few of them to get the right roll. Secondly, you can unlock multiple perk slots for the weapon by ranking up and resetting your Vanguard rank. This gives you even more perks to choose from, maximising your chances of an ideal perk roll on the weapon.

So the heel of the hunt is this, if you want to get the most out of the Prolonged Engagement, put the time in with your Vanguard Ops.

That is it for the Destiny 2 Prolonged Engagement. For more on the game, check out our Destiny 2 Revision Zero guide.
