Destiny 2 Cascade Point is a new weapon perk that can do some wild things. Destiny 2 is an RPG at heart, so build crafting and playing around with various abilities and perks is a big part of the game. Cascade Point is one such perk that players have been messing around with these last few weeks, and finding it can do some interesting things. Here is everything you need to know about Destiny 2 Cascade Point.

Cascade Point is a perk that can appear on many weapons as a random perk, and can currently only be crafted on the Ikelos shotgun. The text of the perk reads; "final blows or sustained precision hits with another weapon increase this weapon's rate of fire for a short duration." Essentially what this means is, you get a few headshots or a couple of kills with one weapon, then swap to fire your Cascade Point weapon at greatly increased speed.

If you want to get down to the finest points of how the perk works, you can check out this incredibly detailed Reddit post breaking down the perk. As for what you need to know, here are the essential details.

Different weapons will proc the Cascade Point perk differently, but if you are getting precision hits and kills with your other weapon, you will get a notification telling you when Cascade Point is ready. Once this happens, you have five and a half seconds to switch to the weapon.

This will activate Cascade Point, and the weapon will fire with a greatly increased fire rate for two and a half seconds. This time can be increased with the enhanced perk, which is currently only available on the Ikelos shotgun.

Cascade Point is a potentially lethal perk, but it has some very specific use cases. As a weapon perk that appears on just a handful of weapons, its effectiveness is dependent on the weapon you are using. For example, there are only two primary weapons that roll with the perk, and one of them was part of the Dawning event and is therefore no longer available. You can check out the Light.gg page for the perk to learn exactly which weapons the perk can appear on to figure out what you want to use.

The best options are either the Ikelos shotgun, as you can craft it and level it up to unlock the perk, or the Lodbrok-C, a widely available kinetic auto rifle. The Ikelos shotgun can use the perk well against bosses that you can get in close against. It might not be as effective as it once was in raids, but certainly effective on less powerful bosses like in Legend Lost Sectors.

A Lodbrok-C with Cascade Point is much more useful for PvP and in the right situations, it can do some incredible things. For example, one really quick and easy way to proc Cascade Point is against a Titan barricade. If you use a weapon with Anti-Barrier Rounds, either by equipping the seasonal perk or using a weapon with the intrinsic ability, you will get precision hits on a Titan barricade.

This means that you can fire at the barricade to ready Cascade Point, then swap to your Lodbrok-C and mow down the Titan hiding behind it. Cascade Point gives the Lodbrok-C a time to kill of just half a second, making this the ultimate tool for taking down cowardly Titans.

There are other ways to use it, of course, you are not limited to just shooting Titan barricades. However, the constraints of activating the perk coupled with the very short time you have to use it, make it very difficult to strategise for, and seeking to use it can put you in compromising situations. You should think before you rush in when Cascade Point activates, it isn't always the best option.
