The Apex Legends ranked system lets players test their mettle with players of a similar skill level, with the ultimate goal of climbing the ranked ladder to become of the very best players. Apex Legends is one of the biggest battle royale games in the world, combining the genre with hero shooter mechanics to create a more complex and fast-paced alternative.

Of course, like any other popular shooter, Apex also features a competitive mode where you can earn a rank that represents your skill level, but you need an explanation of how exactly it works. So, take a look at our breakdown of the Apex Legends ranked system.

  • Make sure to also check out our explanation of Apex Legends Gun Run, which is a mode set to return in early March.

The Apex Legends ranked mode can be accessed once players reach level 20, and lets players compete to progress through ranks that are determined by overall skill. It features the standard Trio mode, allowing you to queue solo or with two other friends to form a full party.

Your rank changes with new seasons, as a soft reset occurs at the end of each season based on your current rank tier. Each season also has exclusive rewards associated with different ranks, allowing you to earn more as you climb higher.

In ranked mode, players earn their rank based on the RP (ranked points) they have accumulated from playing. RP is earned by getting high-place finishes, and earning kills and assists, with you getting more the better you perform. Your RP can drop if you perform poorly, potentially leading to you being demoted to a lower rank.

You also need to spend RP to play a ranked game, with the cost increasing as you climb the ranks.

There are a total of seven ranked tiers, along with an introductory tier called Rookie, which is just for players first getting into the mode. There are no rewards for this tier, and once you get out of it you cannot be demoted back.

The first five tiers all have four divisions in them, which you need to work through to progress to the next tier. Division four is the lowest, and division one is the highest.

The final two tiers don't have divisions, with the highest division, Apex Predator, counting the 750 best players on your specific platform.

Here are all the Apex Legends rank tiers and the amount of RP needed to reach them:

  • Bronze - 1000 RP
  • Silver - 3000 RP
  • Gold - 5400 RP
  • Platinum - 8200 RP
  • Diamond - 11,400 RP
  • Master - 15,000 RP
  • Apex Predator - top 750 players

That's all for our explanation of the Apex Legends ranked system, and now you know how progression works, along with the ranks that can be earned.
