What Is Apex Legends Gun Run?

Gun Run is Apex Legends' take on the iconic Gun Game mode that's been featured in various first-person shooters for over two decades, starting with CounterStrike 1.6 back in the day.

The premise of Gun Game is fairly simple, you face off against other players and each time you earn a kill, your gun changes, with the winner being the first person to work through every gun that's part of the rotation. While Gun Run is essentially the same, Apex puts its own slightly different spin on it.

In Gun Run, there are four teams of three Legends that compete against each other. It works mostly the same as Gun Game, with there being a set progression of guns to work through, but due to you having teammates, the way you work through them is different.

For example, if you are on the fourth weapon and the leading teammate is on the sixth weapon, if you get a kill, you will jump to the seventh-tier weapon instead. This keeps teams fairly close together in terms of weapon progression, while also avoiding the problem of needing every player to get the same amount of kills to score a win.

The max tier of weapon is 25, where you will receive a throwing knife. A team just needs one player to get a kill with this to earn the win.

Is Apex Legends Gun Run Currently Available?

Gun Run is not in the current rotation of game modes, and so far it's only been a limited-time mode on two occasions. It was first available from September 20 to October 4, 2022, and then from October 11 to October 18, 2022.

However, we know the Gun Run mode is set to make a return as part of Apex Legends Season 16, with the new Mixtape playlist, which features a rotation of Control, Gun Run, and the new Team Deathmatch mode.

The Mixtape playlist is set to be added to the game on March 7, 2023, meaning players have roughly a month of waiting as of writing this.
