Apex Legends Season 16 is right on the horizon, and Respawn Entertainment is bringing a whole host of big changes to the popular Battle Royale shooter. While it was sad to hear that a potential Titanfall and Apex single-player game got canned earlier this month, these updates will surely reignite player's passion for Apex Legends. Here's everything you need to know about Apex Legends Season 16, including the start date, important changes, and more.

Apex Legends Season 16: Remastered Legend Classes

Ever since Apex Legends launched in 2019, the team has added a new Legend to the roster every single Season. That streak is set to end with Season 16, however, as Respawn says that it wants to refocus its attention on existing Legends as opposed to introducing a new one.

To begin, Respawn is introducing a new Class system. Each Legend will be assigned to one of five classes:

  • Assault
  • Recon
  • Skirmisher
  • Controller
  • Support

Each class will have a unique perk that affects how they play on the battlefield. It may be that one class can interact with new loot bins, or revive players in new and meaningful ways.

Alongside these class changes, specific heroes will see significant nerfs and buffs across the board. Specifically, Lifeline, Seer, and Wraith are called out as Legends that will see some serious attention. Respawn Entertainment promises more detailed patch notes closer to the launch of Apex Legends Season 16.

Remember Arenas? Well, Respawn Entertainment doesn't think that they're currently living up to the standard that players expect in Apex Legends. As such, the game mode is being removed for the time being in Season 16. It's unclear whether the mode will make a return soon.

To replace Arenas, Team Deathmatch will be taking its place. This 6v6 mode will see players fighting to be the first to earn 30 kills. Once this is achieved, there will be another round. The first team to win two rounds will win overall.

Team Deathmatch will be available on day one at the launch of Apex Legends Season 16. Three weeks in, we'll see a new playlist known as 'Mixtape'. This will be a rotating playlist of small-scale modes, including TDM, Gun Run, and Control. This is intended to be a more casual experience for players to get to grips with heroes or warm up before jumping into Battle Royale.

Apex Legends Season 16: New Weapon

It's been a long time since Respawn last added a new weapon to Apex Legends, but that's set to change with Season 16. The Nemesis is a brand-new energy weapon that will arrive on day one of the new Season.

The team isn't pulling any punches with this new armament, either. It says that the goal is to upset the current status quo between the R-301 and Flatline assault rifles. With the Nemesis gunning to be a new loadout frontrunner, it's likely to be packed to the gills with firepower.

Apex Legends Season 16: New Onboarding Experience

To make new players feel more comfortable, the onboarding experience in Apex Legends is set to be overhauled. Changes will be made to the Firing Range, as well as new Dummy strafing challenges and stat tracking.

In addition, new players will be able to queue into matches against bots before jumping into matches against real players. This is a similar system that Fortnite and PUBG have used in the past where it lets new players get accustomed to the gameplay mechanics before going up against challenging opponents.

Apex Legends Season 16: Anniversary Collection Event

This year marks four years since Apex Legends originally launched, and the team is celebrating with an Anniversary Collection Event. On offer will be all sorts of login rewards for players to obtain, plus the maps will be decorated with plenty of themed decorations.

Apex Legends Season 16: Start Date

The start date for Apex Legends Season 16 is currently set for February 14. There is currently no specific release time, so we will update this article when we know more.
