Geralt of Rivia fans have been certifiably fed as of late because we finally have a release date for the long-awaited next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This is an upgrade that is set to make the world of The Witcher all the more alluring to new and returning players alike.

The fantasy realm is broad and stylish, but it wasn't always this way. The first game in the series was a little more linear, and a far cry from the open-world adventure that has now become synonymous with the series.

That OG is currently slated to get a full remake in Unreal Engine 5, and while exciting, fans are wondering what it'll feel like to return to a Witcher game that doesn't give them absolute freedom. Well, worry no longer.

Well, that takes care of that. It looks as though we're getting a truly fresh way of experiencing the very first game in The Witcher's series, as the remake of the 2007 game is set to be an open-world adventure.

The news was revealed by a new investor presentation from CD Project Group, which describes the game as a "story-driven, single-player open-world RPG."

This is a big step for The Witcher, but it's one that a lot of players have been hoping for. Of course, they mean no disrespect to the game's original format, but knowing The Witcher as an open-world franchise (no matter how factually incorrect it might be), fans simply want their freedom.

What Does The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Upgrade Feature?

CD Projekt RED recently revealed everything that we can expect from the upcoming free upgrade to The Witcher 3. So far, it seems like everything that fans had been hoping for.

A new video from the team reveals a full 60fps mode and 30 fps with ray tracing, PS5 haptic feedback, cross-saves, a new over-the-shoulder camera mode, and more.

The new-gen version of The Witcher is set to be an exciting one to return to, much like the original The Witcher with its new world format. Who knows if The Witcher will overtake the long-standing The Witcher 3 hype, but only time will tell.
