As one of the greatest players to ever grace the game, it's come to the point of the year when OpTic Gaming fans begin to grimace at the fate of Seth "Scump" Abner. The Green Wall giant is arguably entering the twilight years of his career, and despite being on a top-four roster, his head could be turned in the way of content creation rather than competing in 2022.

The 26-year-old former world champion has excelled at the heights of Call of Duty esports since Black Ops 2, winning a ring in the Infinite Warfare era. However, a year after, playing on Sledgehammer Games' WWII, the ScumperJumper had sprung flat on his face, having his undeniably worst season ever, topped off by a shocking top 24 placement in the World Championships.

Now, with Sledgehammer looming again, Scump is faced with the dilemma of packing in competing or grinding through another World War title that could diminish his legacy.

Scump Hints At Retirement Before Call of Duty: Vanguard

With the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard title set to be another WWII throwback with familiar maps, Scump has now revealed that he wants to see a trailer of the game before renewing any contracts to OpTic Gaming and the CDL.

Talking in his stream, Scump said: "Dude, I’m gonna have to see. Listen, my contract’s up at the end of this year. I’m gonna have to see what that s**t looks like before I sign another one… I’m gonna have to see that. I’m gonna need a gameplay trailer."

Why would Scump Retire?

Following on from speculation that Scump was to retire after the Modern Warfare era, the debate resides in whether he feels there is more success in content creation and Warzone rather than in competing.

Previously, a former long-time teammate of Scump's, Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag, said Scump should quit the CDL, as he'd be huge in the streaming world.

However, this was quickly shut down by both Scump and Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, with The Kings' desire to win still burning as bright as ever.

With a solid basis for Call of Duty: Vanguard, Scump will likely continue, having previously said he has another three or four years left in him.
