Titanfall fans haven’t half been through the wringer. Missed promises by Respawn Entertainment have made fans of the futuristic shooter feel a little left out in the cold, as the developer continues to focus on Apex Legends rather than the series that gave it its fanbase in the first place.

Fair enough to them for Respawn to keep innovating and moving forward, but fans of the cult classic series have wanted more ever since the credits rolled on Titanfall 2. In the new worst case of mixed messaging from Respawn yet, players have put up with being told a sequel won’t be coming soon - and then have suggested that was a lie.

Respawn Says Titanfall 3 ‘Isn’t Coming Anytime Soon’

Respawn’s Community Coordinator Jason Garza started chatting about Titanfall near to the end of one of his streams, and suggested that there’s not much to be excited for regarding the series anytime soon. "Don’t get your hopes up, man", he says. "I’ve said this before. We don’t have anything in the works. There’s nothing there. We’ve got too many games in the works right now."

It’s a shame that Respawn apparently isn't working on anything to do with Titanfall right now - or are they? Because a tweet from Respawn seems to indicate otherwise.

Did Respawn Tease Titanfall’s Return?

After Garza practically shut down the likelihood of Titanfall’s return soon, Respawn was quick to offer another thread of hope for fans, shifting blame from themselves in the process. "Contrary to what some folks are reporting, Titanfall is the very core of our DNA", says a tweet straight from Respawn’s account. "Who knows what the future holds…"

Titanfall fans have been thrown to and from believing in a potential sequel for some time, and sadly, this turn of events makes things less clear. It's not that we don't love Apex, but with a strong connection to Titanfall, and repeated whispers Titanfall could become a trilogy, we're left wondering why there hasn't been any movement.

Much like Titanfall 3, we're lost in a sea of rumours about Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2. It's likely that the developer is at least planning this duo of favourites, but with COVID-19 upending the industry and leading to delays across the board, we're not surprised there's been no official announcement yet. Titanfall 3 may come eventually, but it could be some time. Sob.
