The calendar year has been a rollercoaster for esports, but one person ending on a high is 100 Thieves owner Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag. The former Call of Duty professional and pioneer of the esports scene has reignited his love affair with the game by launching the LA Thieves; a CDL side that acquired a spot in the franchised league following the birthing of OpTic Chicago and the disbandment of Chicago Huntsmen and OpTic Gaming Los Angeles.

Having bought the spot from lifelong friend Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez, Nadeshot also launched another hugely successful merchandise drop, ending 2020 on a high.

Amongst all of his responsibilities, his unwavering love for Call of Duty has meant that Nade often plays and streams Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, and has been plagued with the same problems as the entire playerbase. Skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) has run riot on Treyarch's recent instalment of Call of Duty, and Nade has hit out at a system that can boycott the algorithm: reverse boosting.

In a rant on Twitter, Nadeshot stated "I just watched a YouTuber get a Nuke on Crossroads Strike and he didn't get shot at once," before adding "REVERSE BOOSTING IS RUNNING RAMPANT IN THESE CALL OF DUTY STREETS".

Revere boosting is a method of slashing your kill to death ratio in order to trick the Call of Duty algorithm to believe the standard that you are playing at is too high, meaning it will place you with lesser skilled players.

This method has been shunned by the community but is clearly a system that is being taken advantage of.

In the past, Activision has handed out bans for such moralities, will they open the rulebook once more and slap out an array of bans to prevent this? Considering that they've still not got anti-cheat software, we'll let you draw your own conclusions.

With hope, the developers will act swiftly and ease the reigns on the SBMM that has been the rod in the game's back.
