Eidos Montreal, the developers for the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game, has released new details concerning the game's soundtrack, including a look into the full licensed track-list and a new song from the in-game band that inspired Star-Lord's moniker.

What band was created for the game?

A fake '80s rock-n-roll group by the name of Star-Lord Band was created for the game, with the intention of releasing a full album of their material to coincide with the game’s launch on October 26. Today, a new single of theirs called 'Zero to Hero' has been unveiled along with an animated music video inspired by cartoons of the '80s, plus an extended cut that features a VHS recording of the band live.

What about the game’s soundtrack?

The official soundtrack for the game has also been revealed, which has been neatly organised into a Spotify playlist titled: 'Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Original Video Game Playlist.'

The soundtrack features icons of ‘80s pop and rock, with legendary tracks from Billy Idol, BLONDIE, Bonnie Tyler, KISS, and even Rick Astley with 'Never Gonna Give You Up.'

Eidos have stated that the tracks will be available to listen to as you progress through the game and can each be played on a jukebox on the group's star ship - the Milano. A key mechanic in the game's combat will also see Star-Lord motivating his allies with different tracks, that can be selected on his cassette deck.

Due to the litany of licensed songs on offer, the game will feature a toggle to turn all the songs into alternatives that can be safely streamed - a much needed feature for streamers.

When will Guardians of the Galaxy be released?

The game will be released on October 26, along with the Star-Lord album. It will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Additionally, it will be available for streaming from GeForce NOW and a special version of the game called Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version will be released on the Switch for select regions.
