While a lot of us are excited for the upcoming (delayed) release of Starfield, Bethesda fans have another reason to be excited thanks to Fallout: London. Although we're warned Fallout 5 will be a long way off - we could be in our nuclear apocalypse by then - the latest Fallout: London trailer confirms something great is coming in 2023.

Over the past 25 years, the Fallout series has kept us confined to the good ol' USA. Similar to GTA: London 1969, we're heading to Blighty for some tea and crumpets. This DLC-sized Fallout 4 mod is coming to PC and looks like it's worthy of Bethesda itself. It even nabbed former Doctor Who stars thanks to voice work from Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker.

What's New In The Fallout: London Trailer?

According to the Fallout: London site, the story sees you cross paths with everyone from "stuffy parliamentary aristocrats to a resurrection of the Knights of the Round Table to an uncompromising cult of revolutionaries (and more!), Fallout: London embodies the history and aesthetics of London and puts an unmistakably nuclear spin on the beloved city."

All of this is pretty standard fodder, but in the latest Fallout: London trailer, we got to see plenty of new stuff. Even trailers have post-credit scenes these days, and in Fallout: London's we see weaponised elephants. Like something from The Lord of the Rings, we see someone riding an elephant that's mounted with guns. We assume they escaped from London Zoo.

Typically, Fallout has made you go on foot, and while modders have added vehicles into the games, the prospect of riding an elephant into battle is a tempting one. We get a glimpse at some of the factions we'll be butting heads with. In particular, it looks like Medieval-inspired knights have set up shop at the Tower of London. You'll also spot familiar landmarks like Big Ben and the London Eye, although everything is looking a little worse for wear. Oh well, at least the Underground is still running.

Fallout: London Release Date

Fallout: London was originally started as a much smaller mod in 2017, but has now grown to be the size of the vanilla Fallout 4 Commonwealth. The mod is getting so much attention, Head Writer Stephanie Zachariadis was even hired by Bethesda. So, the team must be doing something right. If you want something a little sunnier, there's the equally massive Fallout Miami mod that includes mutated flamingos amidst a neon-clad nuclear nightmare.

As for Fallout: London, the trailer confirms it's coming in 2023. That's a pretty big release window, but at least we know we'll be able to play next year. Well, that should tide us over until Fallout 5. You only have to look at the success of Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas to see how the gamble of trying something different can win even the most die-hard Fallout fans around. Either way Fallout: London looks like an impressive fan project that even Bethesda would be proud of.
