Dead By Daylight Has A New Favourite Killer
Much like in the movies, everyone has their favourite horror icon. Whether you love the razor-fingered Freddy Kruger or the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface, horror hounds will likely fight you to the death to defend their favourite bogeyman (or woman). It's much the same in Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight.
Since 2016, this asymmetric horror has cashed in on our love of the red stuff. Following in Fortnite's footsteps with crossovers, Dead by Daylight has interspersed its own narrative of original killers and survivors with those from the pop culture world. Now, there's a new Killer who's apparently top of the charts in the fog.
Who Is The Favourite Dead By Daylight Killer?
Dead by Daylight regularly releases stats on its pick rates and who is the most popular killer in the game. The latest pick rates make for some interesting reading though - as we have a clear winner. There's always some difference between who's at the top, but the latest is head and shoulders above the rest. Grab a pair of shades because the Mastermind, aka Albert Wesker, is flexing his muscles.
Over on the official DbD forum, Behaviour confirmed the Mastermind has a whopping 16.16% pick rate. After that, it's the Huntress at 6.64%. Things are a little different when we look at just the top 5% of players, but the Mastermind is ruling the roost yet again with a 25% pick rate. Looking at the upper echelon of DbD players, the Mastermind is followed by the Nurse with 6.12%.
In June Behaviour promised to overhaul the game's meta to balance the kill rate. Back then, the kill rate hovered around 51 to 53%, compared to today's 59 to 61%. As well as the most popular killer, the team revealed the highest kill rate character among all players is the Cenobite. Hellraiser's Pinhead has an impressive 63.79% kill rate. Diving a littler deeper into the top 5%, Pinhead is overtaken by the Mastermind (again) with 65.82%.
Why Is The Mastermind So Popular In Dead By Daylight?
Boasting a beefy kill rate, the powers of the Uroboros, and a gnarly look pulled from the Resident Evil games, is it any surprise the Mastermind is ruling the roost here? Of course, we should remember Wesker was the latest addition to the game, so was always going to be a popular pick.
Resident Evil is everywhere right now, and with an upcoming Capcom showcase destined to show off more about the long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake, we couldn't be happier. The Resiverse and Dead by Daylight go hand in hand, and while some were sceptical about a second Resident Evil DLC, it's proved to be a massive success. We can't wait to see whether the Mastermind can keep a grip on his place with his tendrils... or he's destined to tumble from the top.
