We bet you can't wait to hear Ashley Graham shout "Leon" every five seconds and helplessly flail around while our floppy-haired hero tries to murder villagers with a pitchfork. Ah, the sweet stank of playing Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube in 2005.

It's been a massive 17 years since Capcom's fourth main Resident Evil game shuffled into our lives, but with remasters and reimaginings galore, it challenges Skyrim for the title of the most ported game in existence. The Oculus Quest release putting the beloved title in VR is all well and good, as was the HD revamp that took fans eight years to create, but let's be honest, we're all waiting for Capcom's official Resident Evil 4 remake.

Is Capcom Working On A Resident Evil 4 Remake?

The massive Capcom data breach of 2020 listed a Resident Evil 4 remake as being on the cards, but here we sit - slowly growing mould like RE7's Eveline. Thankfully, Fanbyte has done some digging and unearthed a tonne of details about what we can expect from the much-hyped title and its impending release.

While we've heard of the Resident Evil 4 remake for longer than we'd care to remember, the latest rumours claim it'll be a very different affair. According to the site, the RE4 remake will build on the foundations set out by the original, but will aim for "something spookier." Namely, the opening village segment will now take place at night.

Elsewhere, Fanbyte's sources say the remake will add features from the game's demos that ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor. Alongside Leon being possessed by black smoke (hello Lost reference), he could also have to fight off living dolls in a way that sounds a lot like Resident Evil Village's terrifying House Beneviento segment

What Else Can We Expect From A Resident Evil 4 Remake?

If you weren't already sold, the legendary Ada Wong is due to get some much-needed love. Back when RE4 released on the GameCube, you might remember the Assignment: Ada side mission that focused on her but didn't do much in terms of the actual story. Now, there are reports it will be bundled together with the beefier Separate Ways campaign as a full-blown Ada-centric story.

It's unclear whether the Ada content will form part of the main game or be added as a DLC at a later point, but either way, news that Capcom is potentially on the cusp of an announcement is huge. Finally, Fanbyte concludes that this souped-up Resident Evil 4 remake will be announced in "early 2022". Praise the demonic lords.

Following the release of 2019's Resident Evil 2 remake and Nemesis in 2020, many expected Capcom to rollout RE4 in 2021. We imagine the coronavirus pandemic threw a spanner in the works, while others championed a Code: Veronica remake in the meantime.

Given the legendary status of RE4, Capcom pushing a remake was always going to be an easy sell. Now that new features, Ada getting her time to shine, and the idea of leaning back into the franchise's horror roots like RE7 and Village did have all been pitched, the developer can sit back and watch the money roll in. Now we need to know, will we get a boulder-punching Chris Raffield in the investible Resident Evil 5 remake?
