Could we suiting up for yet another Marvel game? With Insomniac's Spider-Man, an upcoming sequel and Wolverine game, Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy, and Firaxis' Midnight Suns, we already have our own Multiverse of titles, but what about a Black Panther game?

When it comes to diversity, the introduction of Black Panther in 1966 marked the milestone of the first African hero to grace the pages of comic books. Since then, T'Challa has cemented himself as a legend in his own right - further amplified by Chadwick Boseman's role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is on its way to our screens, so now could be the perfect time to give us a video game too.

Is A Black Panther Video Game On The Way?

Back in the day, you might remember when everything from X-Men Origins: Wolverine to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 got a tie-in game to celebrate the release of their movies. The problem is, most of these weren't particularly good... we're looking at you, 2008's Iron Man game.

Ahead of his Giant Bomb Game Mess, noted insider Jeff Grubb tweeted and told his baying audience, "Wakanda Forever trailer is great. Let's talk about the Black Panther game live tomorrow." If this is the real deal, expect Grubb to make an announcement today (July 25). Of course, Grubb "confirming" a Black Panther game is far from an official reveal from a publisher or developer.

Looking at the bigger picture, Grubb is known for building hype ahead of his shows, and he has something of a blotchy report card when it comes to being on the money. More often than not, Grubb throws out some random titbit about Star Wars Battlefront 3 or Mass Effect not launching until 2025. It doesn't take a genius to figure out these are massive stabs in the dark for things a long way off.

Is Insomniac Creating Its Own Gaming Universe?

You might remember, Black Panther appeared in Marvel's AvengersWar for Wakanda DLC, which finally added T'Challa to the disappointing hero ensemble. For all we know, Grubb's mention of a Black Panther video game could be referring to this. If not, it's possible a BP game was in development and could've been canned. Remember, we've previously heard Sony is working on multiple Marvel games

Of course, let's stray into speculation territory. Among the many Easter eggs in 2018's Spider-Man, Peter Parker could visit the Wakandan embassy. The idea that Insomniac could take the reigns of a Black Panther outing might sound fanciful, but with the world already being expanded by the likes of the Miles Morales game and hopes Wolverine will also be set in the same canon, it's not that wild. Either way, Grubb will have us tuning in.
