The Quarry Dylan: How To Save

The Quarry Dylan: General Tips
Click to enlargeBefore we get into the specifics, there are a few things you should know. First of all, obviously, there will be spoilers in this guide. This guide will tell you the specific things you need to do and the choices you need to make in order to keep Dylan alive, but pulling it off is down to you. Many of these things are quite general, but details can alter depending on your actions.
Failing QTEs or other skill checks can drastically alter how things play out, but most of these decisions should remain the same. As Dylan employs some of his technical expertise, you will need to complete skill checks to succeed. That said, there are many factors at play in The Quarry, so here are the specific moments you need to get right to help Dylan Survive.

The Quarry Dylan: Back To The Shack
Click to enlargeThe first time Dylan faces any danger in the game is at the radio hut. This is the point where he and Ryan have gone to try and radio for help. There are a couple of ways this can play out. While in the hut, a werewolf will approach, and jump on the roof of the shack. While this is happening, Kaitlyn, Nick and Abi will approach, unknowingly walking into danger. Dylan and Ryan can use the PA to tell them to hide in a cabin, which will also alert the werewolf.
What happens next depends on whether or not you broke into the cabin as Abi and Emma earlier. Overall, breaking into the cabin seems like the best thing to do, but Dylan might disagree with that. If you didn’t break into the cabin, it will take the others a while longer to get in, giving the werewolf some time to chase after them. They can get in before the werewolf gets to them, meaning they will be fine. If you did break into the cabin, they can hide without issue, and the werewolf remains focused on the radio hut.
Either way, Dylan needs to fix the radio by pulling down the cable from the ceiling. If you did break into the cabin earlier, and the werewolf is still fixated on the radio hut, it will attack Dylan as he tries to pull the wire down. The werewolf will bite Dylan on the hand, leading to a very difficult decision.
In the interest of ultimately keeping Dylan alive, Ryan will have to blow his hand off with the shotgun. Not ideal, but Dylan will survive. Of course, if you chose differently with regards to the cabin, Dylan survives and doesn’t lose his hand.

The Quarry Dylan: Dangerous Equipment
Click to enlargeThe next time Dylan’s life is in danger is much later, at the scrap yard with Kaitlyn. The two go there to find a working car and end up finding one attached to a crane. Dylan, ever the technical expert, operates the crane in order to lower the car. The scrapyard is full of motion sensor lights, and while Dylan is operating the crane, he notices lights starting to turn on. Something is coming, and he needs to act fast.
This section of the game is where you need to act fast and have your wits about you. Raise the car up when Kaitlyn gets in it. This will get her away from the approaching werewolf. However, the werewolf will leap onto the car. You need to quickly spin the crane to knock the werewolf off, but Kaitlyn will fall out in the process. She lands on some tyres, but the werewolf is making a beeline for her. With the right timing, Dylan can drop the car on the werewolf, pinning it to the ground.
If you manage that, Dylan and Kaitlyn head back to the lodge. You will have one final showdown with the werewolf there as The Quarry Kaitlyn, and provided that all goes well, Dylan will survive the night mostly intact. Mostly.
