It's been over a year since it was revealed, but we are still waiting for an official Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League release date. That doesn't mean we are any less interested, however, especially after we got another trailer at The Game Awards 2021 which finally gave us a look at some of the gameplay. Fans are also very interested to see how Suicide Squad will tie into the Arkhamverse after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. Here's everything we know about the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League release date, trailers, platforms and its place in the Arkhamverse.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Release Date

The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League release date is set for May 26, 2023, placing it right in the middle of a busy period for game releases.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League: Trailer

The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League teaser trailer first premiered at DC FanDome in August 2020. The cinematic trailer gave fans a peek at the four characters who will be featuring in the game: Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark. In the trailer, the fierce four are bounding through the rooftops of Metropolis tasked with bringing down the 'Alpha Target', later revealed to be a Braniac-controlled Superman.

The reveal trailer didn't give us a look at any Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League gameplay, and that tradition continued with the recent "Ticking" story trailer. However, it did reveal some of the other heroes (brainwashed or otherwise) that will show up. Namely, we got a look at a cocky brainwashed Flash as well as a brief appearance from Green Lantern. Interestingly, a not-so brainwashed Wonder Woman turned up to brawl with Superman, in what will undoubtedly be an epic showdown. We also get a brief look at what looked like an altered Batmobile, and the sinister Amanda Waller can be seen testing out one of those deadly bomb implants. Luckily, it wasn't tested on one of the main squad.

Some fans on Twitter have speculated as to whether this could be a continuation of Injustice 2 in which, at the end, it is revealed that Superman has the power to use Braniac's technology and brainwash his enemies or allies.

Despite numerous video games and films showing a dark side to DC's cape-loving hero, fans are still eager to see a new Superman game rumoured to be in development from Warner Bros.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be a continuation of the Arkhamverse, according to Sefton Hill, Rocksteady's creative director. Hill revealed that Suicide Squad will continue the storyline from Rocksteady's previous DC games including, Batman: Arkham Knight, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City. However, it looks like the narrative for Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights will not be connected. Gotham Knights will be set in a different continuity.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League: Gameplay

During the 2020 DC FanDome, Hill revealed that it will be a one to four player co-op game set in an open-world Metropolis. Players can have the choice to play as one character throughout their whole playthrough or switch between them and use the various weapons and combat skills associated with each character. Suicide Squad will be a multiplayer game but for those wanting to game solo, AI will fill the roles of the rest of the squad.

The recent story trailer did show off some in-game engine cinematics, which suggest the game is going to be a looker. Unlike the CG reveal trailer, the story trailer gave us a much better indication of how characters like Harley Quinn and Deadshot will look in the actual Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League gameplay.

At The Game Awards 2021, a gameplay trailer was finally debuted which showed the four playable characters fighting around a huge city. The movement looked reminiscent of something like Prototype, with tonnes of verticality and mobility, and each character seemed to have a unique kit of movement abilities. The squad were also fighting an evil looking Flash throughout and some faceless monsters/aliens that seem to have invaded the Earth.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League: Platforms

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League won't be available to play on PS4 or Xbox One. But, it will be available to play on new-gen game consoles. This includes:

  • PS5
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • PC

This will be a blow to those looking for their dose of DC content on last-gen consoles, but they'll still have Gotham Knights, which launches on both generations. You can check out everything we know so far about the Gotham Knights release date here.

It might seem a fair old way to go before fans can say "Hello, Puddin" to the streets of Metropolis. However, with Warner Bros. giving DC fans two action-packed games in 2022, the wait will surely be worth it.
