Shin Megami Tensei V Moon Phases allow you to manipulate the act of fusing demons together, which is what most of your time will be spent doing in SMTV. This not only impacts the main fusion process but also affects your success of demon negotiations in Shin Megami Tensei V battles. With that in mind, here's everything you need to know about Shin Megami Tensei V Moon Phases.

Shin Megami Tensei V Moon Phases Explained

Moon Phases influence different aspects of SMTV and can be tracked by looking at the top left corner of the screen. Here, you will see the type of Moon Phase, such as Full Moon and Half Moon. Be sure to keep an eye on this before making crucial in-game decisions, as you could potentially waste your time. Additionally, it might be worth negotiating with demons during specific moons to develop your party.

At the beginning of the game, the moon phase will be set to New Moon (0/8), Essentially, the moon will progressively shift to Half Moon (4/8) and Full Moon (8/8) depending on how many steps you take while exploring the game’s world.

During the New Moon phase, you will be able to re-encounter previously defeated enemies to obtain a plethora of Magatsuhi Crystals for use in battle. Furthermore, you will obviously receive more experience points from unique demon encounters, so it might be worth returning to a previously visited location.

Half Moon doesn’t have a specific moon phase attribute, but some demons may dislike being recruited during this time period. Then again, this also applies to the other moon phases in SMTV, meaning that you will need to be mindful of this hidden element. However, the Full Moon is where things get interesting, as it increases the chances of causing a fusion accident. This is when you end up with a completely different demon than intended, which can actually be beneficial depending on the circumstances.

During the Full Moon phase, demons will have a higher chance of rejecting you during negotiations. This will require you to either run away or defeat the target for experience instead. Paying attention to the current moon phase will be imperative when it comes to encountering a demon.

That’s everything you need to know about Shin Megami Tensei V Moon Phases. Make sure you check out our guide on the Shin Megami Tensei V Mitama if you need more help.
